In honor of the new Fifty Shades of Grey trailer that was released yesterday...
The Confession: I read this story back when it was still Twilight Fanfiction.
The Awkward: I was on vacation in Cabo with DH's family, when my MIL starts telling me about this book she had read, that was recommended to her by a friend. She starts talking about the plot, in whispered tones, and I realized that I already knew the story, though the names were different. That was how I found out it had actually been published.
I will be seeing this movie, probably with my Mom, who I ended up recommending the book to.

I couldn't read the 50 shades of grey books. The part where she tastes her own blood was too much for me. Besides, I feel like the little bit I did read was too wordy and poorly written.
I just got my first check from my new Saturday job and I'm pretty sure they paid me for a day I didn't work. My confession: for 5 minutes I considered not telling them.
Also, I'm hooked on the show Revenge. I know it's basically a glorified soap opera, but I'm into it now.
I have a long commute so I do most all my reading via audiobook. I listened to 50 Shades and the narrator had the most annoying voice ever. And I felt like the phrase "peeked up at him" was used every 4 minutes. It made me crazy. That said, I don't like leaving series unfinished and kinda want to read the other books and find out what happens.
I don't know that I necessarily judge anyone for fifty shades, but from what I have gleaned about it from fans and foes, I don't think I'm missing much and have no desire to read or watch the movie.
I am however, late to the game on a hunger games obsession, and am considering reading the books cause I love the movies so much. I'm afraid the books won't be written super well though and it will ruin the movies for me. I think that's the first time I've ever thought that about a book to movie relationship.
We're going out of state this weekend so I can teach/participate in a long distance shooting course. DH did his a few months back, so this is my turn. DH is supposed to watch DS all day, and just bring him to me at lunch time to nurse.
Well, first we have this diarrhea issue. Now DS has a rash on his penis and the diarrhea is getting worse. I feel like either this is going to screw up the weekend or I'm going to be worrying about DS instead of enjoying myself. And then I feel guilty because my baby isn't feeling well and I should care more about that then about my stuff.
Sometimes I watch Insane Clown Posse Theater late at night when I'm home alone. Then I make sure to change the channel a few times so that DH won't turn on the TV or hit the last button and see that I was watching it. ">

The Hunger Games books are actually fairly well-written. It's not high literature or anything, obviously, but they are fun page-turner reads.
I have never read 50 shades. i dont see what the big deal is. porn without pictures?
I suppose my confession is that I have not read 50 shades, well I read the first chapter and just went ewww I cannot read this badly written crap. I have however read books that are much (much!!) racier than that. Nalini Singh, Nora Roberts, or some Ellora's Cavern stuff.
now thats steamy! Mils and Boon are childrens books in comparison!

I was very disappointed with Mockingjay. I hope the movie is better than the book.

I thought that the 50 shades series was very poorly written, but I enjoyed the books anyways! I felt like the word "exquisite" was overused. Use a synonym every so often!!!
Also "heart beat a tattoo" and "oh my". Someone needs to buy that bitch a thesaurus. Of course she could buy a hundred of her own now. She's rich from writing stories that wouldn't merit a B grade in a high school creative writing class.
For the record I only read half of the first book, before the hype, because a friend recommended it to me. I didn't have to get halfway through the book to realize it was crap, however I kept trying to give it a fair shake for of my friend.

The thing that drives me mad about 50 shades is they are heaping praise on the writer for exposing woman to erotic literature written for them, but there have been authors doing it for YEARS! It just wasn't talked about much. But now its like 50 shades is the way to "introduce" people to that type of story but its so badly written that anyone interested would be so put off!

I had to go to the bank and grocery store with LO earlier this week. I got to the end of my street before realizing I forgot to brush my teeth. Instead of going back home I just popped some mints. In my defense, we went thru the drive thru at the bank and the self checkout at the store, so there was no face to face contact with people.
I went to go put on deodorant before bed last night and realized it was still in my work bag.. From the day before. I never put it on after my shower yesterday. Luckily it's like the North Pole here and no way I sweat yesterday but still. Momma needs some sleep.
50 Shades- I bought the whole series on a whim. Liked the first book, eye rolled my way through the second and haven't touched the third. Although I am hoping to go to a Stars and Strollers showing when the movie comes out!
Hunger Games- loved the whole series! I read the last book in a day, couldn't put it down. But I'm pissed that they split it into two movies.
Divergent- loved the first book, second was too fast-paced and flawed, hated what they did with the third book. He movie was great! I had planned to go see it in theatre when I went on mat leave early but LO ended up arriving the day after I stopped working!
My FFFC: I lost my LO's only pair of mitts on Monday and it snowed on Wednesday. I teach for a living and am always like, how can you kids lose your mitts all the time? Then I have a kid and lose his before the first snowfall. Dammit.

I read about 10 pages into 50 Shades of Grey, and thought, there is no way someone actually published poorly written Twilight Fanfiction (before I actually knew that was exactly what it was).
FFSC: I've read MUCH better, well written Twilight fanfiction online. This one only became so popular/mainstream I believe because the "Bella" in this story is never fully into the sub/dom thing.
Re: FFFC (I didn't see one already)

I had 2 chocolate bars for lunch. That is all.
