I bounce while burping..I bend him backwards and forwards 3 times then burp him (someone posted a YouTube video few weeks ago) or I just keep trying different posistions plus gas drops
Mine is EBF and doesn't always burp and she's usually fine. I just try for up to five minutes and if I don't get anything then she's usually fine. I do keep her reclined for a little bit to reduce spitups/reflux before I lay her flat anywhere.
When she is done eating I immediately sit her up and lean her forward cradling her neck/chin. Most of the time I don't even have to pat her back she will just burp. If she doesn't burp from that after 20-25 pats I put her up on my shoulder and bounce her a little while patting. I try for around 5 mins and if she doesn't burp from that I give up and she is fine. We are EBF.
I do the thing from the youtube video that @jaime52005 mentioned. It worked like a charm for my LO. I have to be really careful with LO however, she has reflux, and if I'm over zealous burping her she spits up everything she ate. So I usually just lean her forwards and back 2-3 times and stop. And hold her to me so that she's really still.
I also do the rocking back and forth thing. Usually works for us, but not always. Once or twice he's had some frat-boy-level burps that way Honestly, I'm pretty lazy about burping. It doesn't seem to make that much of a difference with whether or not DS spits up. He's had some huge spit-ups even after good burps, so I make an effort, but I don't try for more than a minute or two.
I rather sit him straight up and hold his neck/chin, or I lie him stomach down across my lap and pat his back. He isn't the best burper, but these are the most effective ways for us.
we do what's in the video, but I also put one hand on her chin and the other hand I pat her back. Although if we pat too hard she burps up her food. For the most part this gets at least a small burp. We've had a lot less burps though after switching from the avent bottles to the dr. browns ones.
I also do what's in the video! I am so glad it was shared because it is much more effective for us than the traditional pat on the back method. I can usually get a really good burp out of her within 30 seconds that way.
We EBF because I haven't gotten her to take a bottle yet, but she's still somehow way more burpy than her older brother was who I combo fed.
