Hospital packet

Just got a whole packet of information from the hospital I will be delivering at, including pre-registration information, classes, tours, information about the L+D department ect.  Is this typical of most hospitals?  Really just curious as a FTM. I think it was a great idea.

Re: Hospital packet

  • We got a huge packet with our preregistration info too.  It came at the end of our birthing class and basically summarizes all of the information we were given/told and also summarizes the hospital policies.  I think it's great!

  • I got mine at my first appointment in June. Super helpful.
  • I got a packet at my first appointment. But at my appointment yesterday I was given a booklet on pre-registration and all the classes and tours offered. I would say its pretty normal to get one depending on what hospital you're going with.

  • I got an information packet from my OB about a month ago. My insurance is going to change on January 1st so I won't send in the preregistration until I have my new policy number. I don't want to have to try to remember to update my information by sending it in now.
  • Yep! I got the packet from my dr last time around, but this time I got it on the hospital tour.

  • Yep. I got one at my first appointment... And I was such a cute excited FTM that I sent my pre-registration in immediately... But since haven't even bothered to look at any of it again in months lol

  • Our hospital had an online packet of info that gets emailed after you register.

  • I really wish my hospital did that. I can't even get in for birthing classes. They have been booked through January since October.

  • Yup, were preregistering so they'll know who we are when we roll in mid-labor. Also had a bunch of information on their birth stats, classes and photography. Super helpful stuff!

  • I got a packet at my 20 week appt about L&D tours and birthing, breastfeeding, new dad and sibling classes. I pretty much disregarded because I will be having a scheduled csection, already know how to breastfeed, DH will not be a "new dad," and it's the same hospital I delivered at last time so I have no desire to tour it. I hadn't even looked at the packet or thought about it since but I am glad this topic came up because I did want to sign my girls up for the sibling class and I had completely forgotten about it.

We pre-register at the beginning of third tri (my next appt). My doctor's office is in the hospital so they just have us fill out the form there and they submit it for us.

  • What does everyone mean by their first appointment? Do you mean a birthing class? Or should I be going to appointments at the hospital?

I mean my 9week/first appointment with my OB last June. The practice is a building over from the hospital/birthing center so it's all combined. But it was just info on pregnancy, tests performed, classes available, etc.
