Poor growth scan :(

Apologies for the edits - for some reason my text wasn't showing up! I may be flippping out over nothing.  But at 20 weeks, our little girl's head was measuring in the 10th percentile.  We had to repeat the growth scan this week (24 weeks) to make sure her head was growing.  Her circumference grew a bit to the 11th percentile, but her head width has now dropped to the 4th percentile.  We are repeating a growth scan again in three weeks.  The rest of her body is in the 36th percentile, which is a relief.  The ob thinks it is one of two things - genetics, in which case she is fine but will just have a small head.  Or, placental issues.  We will start fetal well being monitoring twice a week starting at 28 weeks and hope that she is healthy and doing well.  If she is not, we are looking at a possible preterm delivery to save her.  I just don't know what to think.  We lost our boys at 22.5 weeks and I am of course so anxious about this little girl's health.  Has anyone else had a similar situation happen with a growth scan?

    I don't have any advice. Just wanted to give you hugs! 

       Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
    SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.
    BFP#1 7/20/13 EDD 3/30/14, m/c 8/19/13, D&E 8/21/13, Chromosomal results = normal, female
    Lap & hysteroscopy scheduled for 10/31, right tube cleared, no endo found! ...Happy Halloween!
    Cycle 14: Clomid (50)+ IUI = BFP! EDD 9/16/14~ Rowan Elizabeth born sleeping at 17w4d on 4/12/14 due to IC.

    A friend of mine had a scare like this last year and it turned out her baby just had a smaller than average head. The little one is doing great and just celebrated her first birthday. I hope all turns out to be okay with your little one.

    I had a similar experience with DD. Her head size measured small at the anatomy scan, and then kept decreasing, as did the rest of her measurements. She was born at 38 weeks and weighed 6lbs, 12oz, so a decent size. She has always had a small head but is completely normal and healthy. I think in our case it's just genetic. Sending good thoughts!

    T&Ps for you and LO. I'm being monitored by MFM for growth as well and I know it can be nerve wracking. No experience with your issue but so far our LO has ranged from 32 percentile to 90 percentile throughout this process. I have risk factors for both growth restriction (uterine anomaly, anemia) and macrosomia (GD) so no matter the number I'm a nervous wreck. In other words ... My PgAL brain can relate! Just trust that your specialists are keeping a close eye and hopefully everything turns out to be normal. please keep us updated.

    Hugs to you. My son has a large head (measuring a couple weeks ahead of everything else) and they believe it's just genetics (I too have a large head etc.). Hoping this is the case for your daughter too. It sounds like you have a wonderful medical team looking out for you and your daughter's best interest. Thinking positive thoughts for you.

    I'm so sorry you have to stress out about this and hoping it's just genetics like the doc said! After my cerclage at 22 weeks I went to a mfm who did tons of tests and found out that I had a placenta issue that was starting to impact growth .. It was caused by thrombophilia a blood clotting condition and I had to go on blood thinners a few weeks ago.. From then to now my baby has grown a lot! I have no idea if that's what u might have but figured I would just offer my experience .. Good luck ((hugs))

    Danielle0311 I'm so glad your baby is growing a lot now!  That's actually an interesting point you bring up.  I'm going to ask my OB about that. They don't think it's a placental issue since the rest of her body is a-ok.  I know I'll be sent to see my MFM soon, too.
