How are you guys stocking up? I think I'm pretty well set on basics like plain white onesies, and I KNOW I need more all-in-one footed sleeper type outfits. I have a collection of pants, side-snap shirts, socks, hats, etc. but I don't know how much of everything we'll need. I'm worried about buying too much or too little or the wrong size. I was a 5 lb baby, but my husband was 11 lbs, so who knows what we'll end up with! Basically, I'd just love to hear how you're building your layette. Thanks in advance for your help!
Re: Newborn/0-3 Month Clothing
I ended up with a great variety of stuff - tons of the basics (onesies, leggings, etc) and a bunch of fancier stuff as well. In the end I had close to a 30 gallon bin worth of 0-3 month clothing, ditto for 3-6 month, and another another mixed bin of 6-18 month clothing, as well as miscellaneous sized jackets, blankets, shoes, hats, etc. Saved me a ton of money and time, and I'm pretty close to being set for clothing for the first year!
They all pretty much said the same thing: only get the footed sleep and plays for the first several months, don't bother with shirts, pants and outfits for the early months. It's a pain enough to change clothes when babies spit up ir have diaper blow outs. Zip them in and out, easiest thing in the world. No messing around with pants and shirts.
And then get about 6 in each size, except Newborn, get like 2-3 of those. That way you can go 2-3 days betw doing laundry.
It worked out perfect and I have been passing this advice to everyone since.
