Jogging Stroller

I'm a FTM and avid runner. I was curious if anyone has a recommendation for a jogging stroller they really like? What are some key features that you would classify as a must have in a jogging stroller? I'm hoping to use the stroller for running mostly on paved roads with some use on trails, on fairly flat terrain (there aren't a ton of hills in my area). I'm currently leaning towards the mountain buggy terrain but would appreciate your input! Thanks

Re: Jogging Stroller

  • I have a Jeep jogging stroller and I love it. It has enough "storage" space for baby necessities and your water and stuff. It also has a plug in the top (and speakers) for your mp3 player or phone or whatever you use to listen to music while you jog. They are a little more money than some others I have seen but totally worth it!

  • I've got the BOB Revolution and I absolutely love it for running and long walks. We use it on some unpaved trails and it's really sturdy and DS seems really comfortable in it. It also has an adapter so you can clip the infant car seat in until baby is big enough for sit in the stroller on their own.

  • I have a BOB Revolution and I have to say I have been a bit disappointed. It is big and bulky for travel and we have had 2 tires go flat. My husband disassembles it when we take it places (so it will fit in the car) and that is when we have had the tire problems. I know lots of people swear by these strollers I just haven't had the best experience. The high price tag doesn't help....

That's a bummer that it hasn't been a good experience for you. I will agree that it is on the bigger side and it can be a pain to lug around if you don't have the room in your car. I haven't had any issues with my tires going flat. Did you reach out to BOB to see if they would replace the tires?

  • @ally3242‌ we have not reached out to the company. My husband is a "take care of it myself" kind of guy so he just replaced them. He had to go to a bike store to do so apparently. I was just disappointed that they failed so easily since the stroller wasn't cheap to begin with. :(

I don't mean to discourage OP from getting a BOB. Just make sure your stroller will fit well in your vehicles so you don't have to take wheels off etc. that seems to be our main problem.
  • I have the BOB revolution and love it for running but I do not take it in the car. To me it was worth every penny. It pushes and rides smooth and easy to push with 1 hand. I have never actually ried to fold it up. I use other strollers for traveling and stores. I have used it with the infant carrier and still use it with DD who is 4. It is really sturdy and the suspension is great. I have had a couple of flat tires and my husband just replaced the tubes. He bought them at a bike store. He too is a do it yourself kind of guy. I saw a smaller BOB someone was pushing around that looked like it could be good, but I am not sure of the model, I was going to look into it.

  • Thanks for the input everyone! Our SUV has a fairly large trunk space so hopefully we won't have issues with having to remove wheels to accommodate for space. Curious how tall you are? I'm 5'8 and am worried about having issues with striking the stroller with my foot while I run...
  • My husband is 6'4 and runs with the Bob Revolution.  I recommend checking out Craigslist for one that did not get a lot of use.
  • We have a BOB and I will be getting a double BOB this go round. I love ours! My husband is a runner (he's military) and the BOB is by far his favorite out of all of our strollers...it also has a way to add the infant seat, but I don't believe it says to run with an infant until 9 months (I may be incorrect though!)
  • Also my hubs is 6'2" and has no issues hitting his feet

Here's a review of the Mountain Buggy Terrain comparing it to the BOB Revolution.
  • Ditto the other girls, I love my BOB Revolution. We bought the drinks holder that attaches so it holds a water bottle, keys etc. We also use it as our everyday stroller and haven't had any problems.

  • Another happy BOB revolution owner. I love how easy it is to maneuver and the sturdy construction. Earlier this year, my husband and I were out on a run and he tripped on a branch when we were running downhill and lost control of the the stroller (and his body). He and the stroller rolled and he landed on the stroller frame, baby face-down. Husband was banged up, but there wasn't a scratch on my daughter. Luckily she was securely strapped in because she was hanging mission impossible style, mere inches away from the pavement. I'm thankful for every penny that I spent on the BOB!
  • Also great customer service with BOB's (they're a part of Britax).  We have the Revolution and also bought the drinks holder so we could use it as our everyday stroller. After a few months some of the straps started to fray on it.  I contacted them, sent them a picture of it, and they sent a new one as well as an envelope to mail back the defective one.  I've heard of them replacing entire strollers if something goes bad earlier than expected.  Good company.

  • Love this thread. I'm on the fence about a jogging stroller and all this info is great.

Also, @keifekm‌ about the flat tires...I knew a couple that went to the bike shop with their stroller and had them squirt the stuff in the tires that makes them never go flat. Not sure on the cost, but for a permanent solution, it might be worth it!
  • I am an avid marathon runner and can not recommend the BOB revolution enough!  Worth every. single. penny!  It is my favorite stroller hands down (and I have owned a lot).  I use it to go for short runs and my husband likes it to use as the everyday stroller to take our son to daycare.  yes, we did get a flat tire (to be expected after a year of use)...but because those tires are air it handles soooo well.  super smooth to push and when you switch to another stroller you notice the change.  Yes its bulky...but its not meant to be at travel stroller.  Get yourself a small umbrella stroller to take on plane rides, trips to the mall etc

I had a Jeep one and it was great bc the tires were so heavy duty.. however the thing was massive and i couldn't fit it in my car without a 10 minute fight. We got the city mini and I used it to jog 5 days a week for the last 2 years and it's worked great.
I don't think it's an actual "jogging stroller" but it served the same purpose.

  • Keep in mind a jogging stroller isn't designed for babies less than about six months old. You might want to have something for the interim you can walk with.
  • I was a runner too. We got a Bob revolution and for running it is awesome. We have put a lot of miles on ours and have never had an issue. I drive a crv and it fits fine into my trunk but I do prefer a smaller stroller fora around town.

I have the Bob Revolution as well and after owning it for about a year, I realized that the canopy didn't open and stay open properly.  (I used it with the infant seat and adapter so it was always closed.  At first I assumed gravity just needed to work its magic but it became clear it was a fault in the product.)  Despite it being so long since it was purchased (over a year), I decided to reach out to the company to see if they would help me out.  The customer service was EXCELLENT.  They sent me replacement parts immediately.  After I received them, I discovered that the parts they sent were not sufficient to fix the problem.  I relayed this to the rep that had originally contacted me and she immediately sent the additional parts out.  I don't know if any of this will help in your situation but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case!  Good luck :)
