Bed Transition

So I'm having my second next year and we're planning on moving our 21 month old out of the crib over Christmas break (we're both teachers, so the breaks are convenient). she'll be a month shy of 2 so I know it's a little young but she's super mature and such a good little toddler (knock on wood).  My only concern is how much she still moves in her crib.  She never stays covered and every time I look at the monitor she's on a different side of the crib.  So my question is, how do you deal with this is regular size bed? I'm already planning on having the railings up so she doesn't fall out but do I put a normal comforter on or should I be worried that she'd get under ittrying to get to the other side of the bed and suffocate?  TIA

    DD is the same way, she moved all over! We just transitioned her to a toddler bed with rails this weekend. I have the comforter folded at the bottom, for looks and still use her knit blanket she used in her crib to cover her. Honestly she moves so much that she is never covered so she still wears warmer pajamas to bed because I cannot count on a blanket to keep her warm. She moves all over her twin bed too and usually ends up sleeping width wise instead of the length of the bed.

    DS has a comforter on his bed that I made with a "pocket" at the bottom so that it stays "fitted" to the bottom of the bed. Even with that he tends to toss and turn so much that he usually kicks it off. He has never fallen out of bed, but often times he bumps the rails on the bed, just as he did in his crib.

    We just transitioned DS into a twin bed with rails on either side this past week. He still bumps into the rails every now and again---but he did the same thing with his crib. He is sleeping on a sheet with a pillow and a light weight blanket. Though he never stays under the blanket. He hates covers. It should make for an interesting winter. I try to dress him in fleece PJ's and we are biting the bullet on the extra heating costs as night for the house to be a little bit warmer from 9 p.m. till 6 a.m.
