Some may know me from the November Angels check-in, but it looks like I didn’t have my posting etiquette shoes on when I joined and I only intro-ed on TTC after 35. This wasn’t my intention, I’ve actually been a lurker here before I found the 35+ board. I digress …
I'm currently 35 and have been managing endometriosis for almost 20 years. I was pretty scared when DH and I decided it was time we TTC and I had the doc remove my IUD (best 7 years of my life!). Last I remembered, my periods lasted for 10-13 days and were super heavy so I had no idea what would happen. After removal, since I hadn't had a true period in 10 or so years, I immediately started with the OPKs to get a better understanding of my body and how it was working. Well, I was lucky! I had 3 "standard" periods on consistent cycles. 3rd time IS a charm because I got pregnant!
Many of my friends had to send pics of their tests out to see if anyone thought there was a true second line present. I didn't have to. It was an evening pee and that second line appeared right away. I was so happy and extremely nervous (pregnancy scares me but that's for another time). DH was so happy, too. I had 3 positive home tests and a positive at the doctor's office. Since I just had my annual in Nov, he did a quick check and my uterus was softening. I returned in two weeks for my first U/S. Long story short, I was at exactly 8w but only measuring 6w4d. Since my symptoms were strong, I was advised to take it easy and call if I had any cramping or spotting and had a followup U/S scheduled in another two weeks. I was cautiously optimistic - my symptoms did not fade one iota and there was no cramping or spotting. DH and I went to that appointment heads held high, just to leave the room in tears. Sometime in-between my two U/Ss I had a MMC, yet the sac continued to grow. Just a few days later I had a D&C.
It took until August for my cycles to get back to “normal” and we started trying right away. Still just temping and OPK-ing it, although I did recently start acupuncture and adjusted my diet (majorly). My annual with my regular OB is tomorrow so we will see what he says.
I'm sad to be here, but not sad I found "here" because I've connected with so many lovely ladies and have learned a lot about mental healing and adjusting. Hugs to you all.
