When did LO get more efficient at nursing?

My little girl is 6 weeks old and she still takes a minimum of 45 minutes to eat (from both sides). On average, how long does it take you all to BF. When did your LO get more efficient at nursing?

Re: When did LO get more efficient at nursing?

  • DD is 3 1/2 months and she takes anywhere from 20-25 mins a side, never less than 15 mins at this point. Sometimes she will even lazy nurse one side for as long as 35-40 mins if I let her. We also are using a nipple shield still so not sure if that has something to do with it.

  • DD is 3.5 months and averages between 5-10 minutes on each side.  Early on, she averaged about 20 minutes per side.
  • The 6 week growth spurt is also the hardest, IMO. So if you're in the midst of that, best to just hunker down for a few days. After this, things should start to level off.
