When did LO get more efficient at nursing?

My little girl is 6 weeks old and she still takes a minimum of 45 minutes to eat (from both sides). On average, how long does it take you all to BF. When did your LO get more efficient at nursing?

    DD is 3 1/2 months and she takes anywhere from 20-25 mins a side, never less than 15 mins at this point. Sometimes she will even lazy nurse one side for as long as 35-40 mins if I let her. We also are using a nipple shield still so not sure if that has something to do with it.

    DD is 3.5 months and averages between 5-10 minutes on each side.  Early on, she averaged about 20 minutes per side.

    The 6 week growth spurt is also the hardest, IMO. So if you're in the midst of that, best to just hunker down for a few days. After this, things should start to level off.
