Is the name Adalyn/Adelyn/Adilyn popular?

I've never heard the name Adalyn (ad-a-Lynn) before we picked it for our daughter, now I hear it everywhere. In the rankings it's still in the 100's showing it's not popular but I want some opinions. Do you think it's popular? Do you know a lot of girls names Adalyn? I'm not concerned with the different spellings just if its popular.

We were gunna name our baby Addalyn if it was a girl, and I know one other girl in the area with the name. I think it's growing in popularity, but not as popular as other names. I for one love the name! And it had my FI's name in it so it would have been like we were naming after him.

It's becoming popular. My younger sister AdeLynn is 17 and gets annoyed hearing her once uncommon name everywhere lol. We call her Addie for short.

You will never choose a truly unique name unless you make it up and name your child peleossufious (or something similar).

So choose a name you love, regardless of how many people share it.

(Says the girl who can't choose a name...)

Google said there are currently 564665422 babies with that name. I would say popular.

Lemon on the other hand is totes younique. Go with that!

It is popular. It also sounds very similar to a lot of other popular baby names right now (Madelyn, Addison, Madison, Etc) which makes it seem more used than it is.

My DD's name is Ava and although it is a "popular" name, it isn't a popular name in the area we live in. I almost didn't pick it cause it was so popular on the census, but we decided we just really liked it anyway. Then, I was kinda annoyed I had to tell numerous people how to pronounce it and spell it. It's supposed to be a popular name! So maybe the name is "popular" but maybe it is or is not where you live. I don't know if that would make a difference to you or not....:-/

I think its getting more popular and like Ineedmorecoffee said it's similar to other popular names right now. Also A names are really popular too.

That being said if you love I say it doesn't matter! Also names that are in the top 10 right now aren't as popular as like the top 10 were in the 80's or 90's so there's a chance she'll be the only Adalyn in her class. I would check out your state's top 100 list see if it's on there if you're really concerned about it.

Yes, very popular this year. I had a friend just give birth to her daughter 2 weeks ago and named her adalyn

I like the namenerds.com website for checking out name popularity. They take the SSN list and re-organize it so that all the various spellings of different names are ranked together (so Aiden/Ayden/Aden are one name). It's kind of fun to check out.

At the same time, as PPs have said, the most popular names these days represent fewer children per capita than the popular names from our day. So I don't worry that DD's name was in the top 20 of the year she was born. We hear her name around, but it's not like she has a ton of friends with that name.

Our daughter was born on Monday and we named her Adelynn. I think it is just beautiful - and not so popular yet that everyone has it.

Its pretty. I really liked Adeline. Its ranked in the mid 3000s and feels like it should be the name of an old country saloon song. But then again, my girl choice was Bernadette which makes most people :P
