So my DD is 7 months now and weighs 16lbs. At our 6 month checkup 2 weeks ago our pediatrician recommended no more than 24oz of Formula a day, especially if we give our DD a yogurt every day (which we do). The doc said that more than 24oz of much formula combined with other dairy like Yogurt is too much dairy and can lead to Anemia. So now our DD eats 3 meals a day (cereal for breakfast, homemade soup for lunch, baby yogurt mid-afternoon, and soup again or Avocado for dinner, and has only about 20oz of formula a day. From reading other posts on here, 20oz now seems like too little??? It seems like everyone else is still completely focused on BM/Formula and not as much on solids. I'm confused. DD used to drink about 27oz of BM/Formula a day before solids.
Re: Solids vs. Formula
Formula/breastmilk is supposed to be the primary source of nutrition right now so keeping her pre solid oz plus solids would seem ok to me.
I just keep telling myself that every baby is different and if she was hungry she'd let me know!
ummmm....this^^^.
There is iron in formula! If you did anything I would cut out the yogurt and do baby cereal or oatmeal (which is supplemented with iron).
I have definitely heard of WCM inhibiting iron absorption, but I have never heard of formula playing a role in that.
Of all the formula rounds, 2 also contain rice cereal mixed in.
She gets 1 round of solid for lunch and then one for dinner.
BM/formula should be the baby's primary source of nutrition until a year. Your LO is getting a lot of solids; honestly I'd cut back on them a bit and up the formula.
