Pregnant after 35

Old to the Bump, but New to This Board (*Losses Mentioned)

Hi everybody, I've been around these boards a long time, first on the Knot, then on my son's BMB (he was born in July 2011) and then on TTCAL, TTTC, 2IF, and PGAL. But I'm new to this board, so wanted to introduce myself. Long story short, I'm 35 and we've been trying for baby #2 for about a year. In that time frame, I've had 3 first trimester miscarriages, the last of which ended in a D&C around 9 weeks in May. Due to complications from the D&C, we were benched for several months afterward. In October, we were finally cleared to try again, resulting in this pregnancy! It was our last try at a natural cycle before moving on to IUI. I've been a nervous wreck since my BFP, but at our ultrasound this morning we saw a heartbeat, so I'm breathing a little easier, at least for today. My RE still puts our chances of loss at 20%, due to my history, but 20% sounds pretty good from where I'm sitting, so I'm trying to be optimistic and take things one day at a time. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow AMA ladies!

Enjoy some hot cocoa if you got through all that.

  • @Tsuga76 Yeah, my husband is a gambling man (not like a problem gambler, but he enjoys poker & the sports book every now and then) and he said he'd bet on 80% odds.  :D

  • Welcome! Your story sounds a bit like mine.  I started on the knot too and then went to TTC and then trouble TTC and then PGAL and now here. I had multiple early losses and one late loss at almost 20 weeks. I understand totally what you're feeling.  Pregnancy will never be easy for me.. it's always stressful.

Good Luck to you! I hope things continue to go well and thoughts and prayers for a sticky baby!
