Tell me about your cell phone

My upgrade eligibility date came about the other day so the hunt for a new phone has started.  I got my current phone 2 years ago and haven't spent a lick of time researching phones since - a lot happens in the cell phone world in 2 years! 

I'm currently working with the Samsung Note 2 (kept safe by an Otter box, so altogether it's like 6.5" inches long and super heavy), and I like the size, durability (probably thanks to the Otter box) and android operating system.  Negatives are battery life seems to last only a good 14 hours or so, and sometimes it's too big to fit in a clutch with it's case on.

I don't utilize many of my phone trinkets or power (stylus pen, games, etc) and really just use it for web browsing, emailing, texting and taking pictures.  I'm looking for the same in my next phone!

Everything I've looked at seems to have good reviews, so now I have no idea what to check out so I thought I'd turn to you ladies for some advice.   What do you have?  Do you love it, hate it?

ETA:  I'm not an Apple/iPhone person, so you can TRY to convince me to go iPhone, but will likely not succeed.  DH has been trying/failing for years!

    I love my galaxy s4 and I just ordered the 5. The camera is great and I like how big it is

    I have a Samsung S4 and maybe the S5 or something comparable is what your looking for. It's definitely smaller than a note witth not as many gadgets I think. Also, LG G2s and G3s are very good. There are some features on there I like better than mine. And I have similar phone usage habits to you it seems. Have fun finding a new one!

    I have an LG Optimus Pro... love it. It was like $9.99 (galaxy note equivalent) at the time with my upgrade. So I was sold. I often just go with the fanciest phone for the lowest amount of money. And like you, I dont do iPhones. I have an iPad, and thats enough Team Apple for me.

    Love my Note 2. I wouldn't give it up unless I'm getting the newer one. I use my phone for practically everything except games though. Email, Etsy, taking card payments at markets, updating website, photos, couponing, GPS, networking, and other basic cell stuff like calls and texting.

    For what you use your phone for, it sounds like the Galaxy might be a better fit. Its like the nonbusiness oriented Note.

    I am on my 3rd HTC phone and love it.  HTC makes fantastic hardware.  My new phone the HTC 1x+M8 does not let me down.

    The battery is excellent, the cameras are awesome, and the phone is just plain sturdy.  I no longer use an otter box (didn't last phone either) and don't worry about dropping it with just a simple rubber cover. Their products withstand my abuse and that says a lot.  

    oh and it has TONS of memory which is awesome. 

    Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

    I have the Galaxy S5 Active and I love it! I went from an iPhone 4s to a Galaxy and I don't think I would ever go back to an iPhone.

    I think Steve Wozniak admitted that the iphone 6 was three years too late. Poor Apple. They used to be new hotness.

    I agree that apple is WAY behind when it comes to innovation. 

    However, their products are quality, last forever, and hold their value. Not to mention everything is seemless when you run all apple products (DH sells all kinds of IT, so my house has no shortage of them). 

    I understand the 'anti-iphone' peoples...different strokes for different folks.

    Samsung Galaxy S5 here. Love it! I don't use an otter box just a silicone case on the back. The camera is amazing and out does my husband's iPhone 6 any day of the week :-)

    I have a iPhone 4s. Debating about an upgrade too. Only reason I have an iPhone is bc my kids have ipads through the school, my sister and hub have one, as well as my dad & it's kind of "work approved" phone ( my dad and I work for the same company) but I'd love something with a bigger screen.

    Miss having an android but it does make texting kids in school easier having an iPhone.

    Thanks for the input everyone.  I am sort of leaning towards the S4 or S5, for no reason in particular.  However, I did touch & play with the Note Edge last night and it made me giddy.   Probably not what I need to be spending $400 on though!

    I have the Nexus 4 and it's still going strong 3 years later! I would recommend the Nexus 5 or Moto X phones (got both my parents the moto x). I'll never have an iPhone, I love android too much!

    We love our Windows phones. The only downside is that the app store does not have as much as the apple store or google play--for instance, my news station always pushes its news 4 app, but it is only available in the apple store. All of the apps I need, though are available: email, facebook, fun games, etc. I love that the operating system on my phone and computer are both Windows 8.

    I just got the Galaxy Note 4 and absolutely love it. I don't miss my iPhone 5 for even a second.

    I have the S4 I think and I generally love it, but its a bit too big for me to text in on hand.  you had a big phone before, so maybe not an issue for you, but its the one thing I don't like about it.

    I'm in the same boat as you as far as phone switching. Not sure how you feel about the Black Friday nonsense, but both target and best buy (if I'm remembering correctly) are advertising the s5 for a penny. I currently have an iPhone 5 and have had so many issues, I'm switching over to Samsung

    DH told me about some great deals at Target on Black Friday.  But yes, I'm unsure how I feel about going to Target on Black Friday!   Might be dangerous for a woman in her 3rd tri!   Maybe they have online deals too, I'll keep an eye out

    DH's phone is even better.  I think circa 2006.  It doesn't even have a camera or flip for that matter.

    We may be the last people to not have smart phones.   
    I have a flip phone too!! Only mine doesn't have a camera, send or receive mass text messages or even have snake :-( However, I pay an entire $10 a month!

    My DH is starting a new job next week and a phone is no longer provided for him. He still needs crazy data and what not for the job, and it is now cheapest for me to get an iPhone 6 added on to the plan. Crazy how that works! So welcome 2014! Next week I'll be able to waste time, take pictures and mobile bump! whoo-hoo!
