Sound like growth spurt or something else?

Last week I felt like DS was starting to be awake a little more during the day but the last 2 days he's slept pretty much the whole day. I've had to wake him at the 3-3.5 hr mark to eat. I thought for growth spurts it was more eating more. ( though last night He did wake an extra time to eat) he's also been very fussy and gassy too. So I'm not sure what's going on? anyone else's LO do this? He's 7 weeks old.

Re: Sound like growth spurt or something else?

  • He might be entering a new developmental leap. Get the book or download the app "the wonder weeks" it really helps ex
  • Loading the player...
  • Whohmama jumped the post button gun holding my lo! ....helps explain all this studd I love it!
  • Just before DD was 6 weeks she slept for two days straight practically and it was followed by 2 days of cluster feeing. She them seemed to grow 2 inches overnight. With growth spurts many babies will have days of sleep because their body is growing during sleep or preparing for a growth spurt. Enjoy it while you can!

This! Mine slept a lot for a day after

  • Anyone's LO more clingy during growth spurt? We had her almost on a sleep schedule and sleeping by herself but this week she's been extra hungry slept for like a day straight (had to wake her for feedings she was OUT) and now the past 2 days everytime I put her down so I can get something done or say... GO TO SLEEP she wakes up and starts crying ... Any advice... This mama needs more than two hours tonight
  • @herecomesthesun086‌ have you googled Wonder Weeks? I find LO is often super clingy during a wonder week and they sometimes coincide with growth spurts.

  • Almost posted something similar. LO is just over 7weeks and seems very fussy for her otherwise laid back personality. We started 'sleep training' & she's been a champ but I feel like I almost need to wake her to eat. Not too long after the feeding she's fussy & wanting to sleep again. Is too much sleep concern?
  • @Everyusernameistaken I downloaded the app on my phone... Well... I was reading the first leap (even though it is supposed to occur between 4.5 to 5.5 weeks and she is 6 weeks), sounds exactly like her... crying without normal reason, only quiet when she is with you (crying nonstop with dad), only sleeps in my arms GAH! sounds exactly like her. Thanks a bunch, Im going to look around a little more on the app, may end up getting the book well see.
  • @herecomesthesun086‌ no problem! I think my guy is in the 8 week leap now, it's no fun at all!
I had the book but found it super dense, the app and some online stuff was enough I found, but the book is good if you want to go deeper.

  • May just stick with the app haven't even really started reading my 'what to expect the first year book' yet occasionally just look stuff up in it
