Who's right?

Hey ladies- settle our fight please! We are building our home and ordered new furniture. Furniture will be delivered and set up for us by the store. Delivery is free. (3 full bedroom sets and one living room, AKA- a lot of stuff!)
I say we tip the guys. ($100 each? Your input would be appreciated if you agree.)
Husband says "delivery is free!"
I think we should tip especially because it's a service we could do ourselves but don't have to. It's Like mowing the lawn. We tip the neighbor boy at the end of the season for a job well done, on top of paying him.
So who's right?!

Personally... my husband wouldn't care what a bunch of women had to say on the internet. I think this is something the two of you need to work out. All I hear in my head is "See! Look at what all of these women think!" Not exactly a problem solving statement. That would just piss my DH off.

I think a tip in general sounds reasonable, but $100/each sounds like a lot to me. I personally probably would have tipped more like $20/person. It took them at most 45min to do everything (I think it may have only been 30min). We had 3 people setting up our 3 rooms worth of furniture when we bought our house and if we had tipped $100pp, we would have spent more than what the store charges regularly for shipping.

Couldn't agree more. But I'll play along. Tip them what you can afford. If 100 each is in the budget and its worth it to you to avoid the heavy lifting, and it would be worth it to me. However, tipping strangers isn't worth a huge fight with your husband.

Hot summers day these poor removalists had to move all my stuff from the fourth floor of a building , that had no elevator or air con, then they delivered and moved it all where I wanted it , I bought them a 6 pack if beer and have them 20 bucks to get some food , mind you in Australia , we don't tip, I just felt bad cos I made them do it on one of the hottest days in summer !!

I'm sure my opinion is an unwanted one by OP and it's the only reason I gave it. Doesn't answer her question with a yes or a no and it doesn't help her to "win" her case
