Pregnant after 35

I must be crazy... Thanksgiving related

So I think I lost my mind... Just made and froze my more labor intensive Thanksgiving casseroles (sweet potatoes and green beans) and bought almost all other stuff needed for Thanksgiving dinner... I was originally planning to order from Fresh Market but then something got into me and BAM we might have all (semi) home made stuff... Hope it will taste good. Oh, it's all bc Baby is coming 1 week before Thanksgiving.... What are your faves and family traditions for Thanksgiving?

Re: I must be crazy... Thanksgiving related

  • Wow, I admire your determination.

Thanksgiving tends to be just H and me now (thank god!).  We try to change it up every year.  In the past we've made lamb, turkey breast, rabbit, duck.  I think I'll take a stab at a venison chili this year plus a second meat that I haven't picked out yet.

I make a modified version of this wild rice and cornbread dressing every year though:

H insists on making pecan pie every year too, even though we don't eat anything in it except the pecans on our current diet.  It's going to be challenging for him to figure this one out as we dropped dairy since last Thanksgiving.

  • Oh this is the turkey recipe I am planning on making (minus the gravy)... Made it a couple of times like 10 years ago and it was SO GOOD. It cooks super fast too. :)https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/herb-roasted-turkey-breast-with-pan-gravy-recipe.html We usually host Thanksgiving for the whole family 12-15 people nit including us, but obv it's not happening this year. But I still wanted to feel like it's a holiday...
  • When we lived away from Arkansas I would make our little family dinner. Hubs usually had to work on thanksgiving.
But now that we are back around family I don't have to cook.
My all time favorite dish is the giblet gravy. I can eat that all by itself.

  • Yum!! I LOVE sweet potatoes. That's probably my all time favorite thing ever.  I do love green bean casserole too.  We will be at my husbands parents house and while his mom is an ok cook.. she doesn't do anything fancy. Thank goodness his aunt is bringing the sweet potatoes! :)

My sister and I usually cook together, using all of our old family recipes.  I love the tradition of all of it.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!
