What is working best for you? Everything is going fairly smooth! Laundry is pretty easy and I really like using cloth. We use primarily gmd workhorses or prefolds with PUL covers. We have a few AIO's and pocket diapers as well thrown into our stash. We have been using cloth wipes. Love them so much more than disposable.

What is not working that you are still trying to figure out? We still have the occasional leak of pee or poo but no blowouts. Usually just due to accidentally not tucking everything under the cover all the way

I decided to use disposables on Saturday for the day (dh's family had a baby shower for us). Every time they leaked and I had to change his whole outfit. So much more work than just changing the diaper and cover. I must suck at using disposables

Advice for other CD moms? Or questions you have for other CD moms? None currently!

What is working best for you? I like my NB AIO best right now - BG and Imagine. My grovia not so much.

What is not working that you are still trying to figure out? Prefolds and covers but I got some good suggestions to try out!

Advice for other CD moms? Or questions you have for other CD moms?
How are people handling the extra laundry? I am finding it easier than I thought it would be.

What is working best for you? I've only used flats and covers so far. I have some velcro and some snaps. I'm getting a better fit with the velcro.

What is not working that you are still trying to figure out? I'm not quite sure how to get the right fit with the snap covers.

So far we're still using disposables overnight and out of the house. I think that'll change once he's big enough for our one size pocket diapers. I'm getting way more leaks with disposables than with or cloth, which is frustrating out of the house.

  • @MrsSarahRenee‌

The extra laundry is nbd here. There's already extra from spit up and leaks when we're in disposables anyway. And the machines do all the work.
  • @hecklet‌ Where did you get the penguin diaper? I must have it!

@narabug‌ What brand are you using for the snaps? I found the Rumparooz NB snaps get a better fit than my other ones. I like the hook and loop better also though. Maybe it is just because the babies are so small?

They are rumparooz. Maybe I just don't know how to do it right. There's just so many different places you can snap it. And he usually screams through his diaper changes, so I try to make them as quick as possible so I haven't had a lot of time to mess with them.

Eta: it just seems like anything I do to get the legs tight enough makes it too tight around his abdomen.

    Fitteds and Covers

He pees too much for 90% of the diapers that are small enough to fit him but is too small for the OS we have (they basically fit him knee to knee...the rise is fine)

No advice but I think this is one more stress for me lately and am thinking of going back to disposables (both DD#3 and DS are in diapers and while I did 2 in cloth with DD#2 & DD#3 it's just so much this time!!)

What is working best for you? We've been using bumgenius AIO mostly and we have a few Lil Joeys and 2 Flips.

What is not working that you are still trying to figure out? I never got the prefold or flats down, so i switched right to the AIO. I would like to master them because i want to bulk up my stash and they seem more cost effective. Ideally i will have enough to do laundry every other day as opposed to the current daily wash.

Advice for other CD moms? Or questions you have for other CD moms? For those using flats and prefolds. Do you just fold and use insert style or do you wrap around baby and use snappies/pins?

I haven't taken a fuzzy butt picture in a while. This is Alex about 4 weeks ago in Dapper. I am ordering the new Martin print this week and I am very excited about it.

  • Someone on the CD board recommended the jelly roll and a snappi. You can google the fold or youtube it. @swayda‌

I've been doing the mini kite fold with my flats, and using pins, because someone gave me pins at my shower and I forgot to buy snappis. I would be using snappis if I hadn't had mommy brain when I went to the store. And I think I'll have to learn a new fold pretty soon, he's almost too big for the sides of the mini kite fold to meet in the middle.
  • @MrsSarahRenee‌ Thank you. I have been meaning to youtube some options, but with the AIO being so easy and me being so lazy...

Sorry I missed this. I think the mini kite is what i started with, it just never really worked for me with the newborn size flats I was gifted and I never went back out to get the next size up. My area isn't the most CD friendly. I have to drive an hour or order online.

I'm using flour sack towels as flats. You can get them at Target or Walmart for about $1 each. They're usually on the bottom shelf in the kitchen towel aisle.

    They're similar to these

I love using our GMD prefolds and covers. My favorite cover is my bummis pull on, which is great cause they are cheap!
What is not working that you are still trying to figure out?
I have about a dozen workhorses, and im just not in love with them yet. Especially the snap ones - i cant get them tight enough around her skinny legs and we have had some poop come out the leg holes. Never have that happen with the prefolds.

Advice for other CD moms? Or questions?
Hmmm...anyone using Blueberry AIOs? I have one, and DD has maybe pooped in it 3 times and it is stained like crazy! I have had no problem with stains on my other diapers, but this one diaper looks pretty bad and i cant believe it has only been used a few times. I plan to try sunning, just havent had a chance yet.

  • Baby is just over 4 weeks.

We are using pre folds and covers. We have a diaper service so those are all we will be using.

We just added cloth wipes to our service and they were dedelivered this morning so I'll have to figure out the best system for those.

What are your favorite brand of covers? So far we have only used Thirsties but I will need to get some one size soon.

    No fluff picture today.

  • Oh I thought of a suggestion... Cut up receiving blankets into 5"-6" squares (rough estimates) to use as wipes... Just wet them down and they're amazing!!!

  • I'm finding the Fan Fold to be the best for preventing leaks. Here's a pic from the brochure from the diaper service showing how to do it. (I don't know how to make the pic not sideways)

For flats (only with DD) I liked the bikini fold. But IDK how it would work for a boy. I also prefer Boingos to Snappis.

It's a sweet peas newborn cover. I got it from mysweetpickles.com
    I think it's a discontinued print :(
