As they grow...anxiety!

I am sitting here looking at my LO at 8 weeks and already worrying about the future! When he drives, making good decisions, etc! Anyone else get like this already especially FTMs?

Re: As they grow...anxiety!

  • Oh. My. Word. YES! I start thinking how he's growing so fast, and that before I know it he'll be 3 mo, then 6, then a year. Then I get to thinking he will be a toddler, and then in school after that. Then I start thinking, before I know it, he's going to graduate high school, go to college, leave me to get married, and have kids if his own! I want to cry just thinking about it! (I actually did just that a few minutes ago). I think it's just normal to feel this way, especially since they grow so fast in the first year of their lives.

  • I am glad I am not the only one! At times I get excited about all the cool stuff I can do with her but some times I worry because I can't always protect her.

  • I try not to worry about it, and just enjoy how they are right now. I worry enough as it is, so I don't need to worry about that too. Tomorrow will come when it comes, and I'll worry about it then. I Just want to enjoy how little they are right now.
  • Yes! I keep thinking about her future and it's so scary! I'm excited about everything we will be able to do together but she's growing so much it makes me sad. It also makes me feel so old to see her growing so fast. I also worry sometimes I'm not enjoying her as much as I should.
  • I always try to talk my babies into staying little until they hit about 2. Then I just try to survive each day with them having fun.

Once they are about 9, I count down until 18..... 5 and 7 years for the older two. ;) Puberty sucks.
  • @CUBBIESMAMA3 I'm with you. I honestly worry about so many other things, I don't know if my brain could let me worry about anything else anyways!! Lol :)
My therapist actually laughed the other day because I wasn't worrying about the future. At. All. Lol I get sad when my girls grow out of something I thought was really cute because I realize that things are changing, but they're changing into wonderful people I love getting to know. (DD1 wore a princess dress with pink cowboy boots yesterday!)
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with worrying though. I think that's probably pretty natural. They're our babies!!
  • Lol, my mind can't comprehend anything past the dreaded first day back to work.
  • I definitely don't worry all the time. I think it's funny how it happens all of a sudden. Most of the time I worry about getting through the day ;)

  • I'm still more prone to worrying about him falling/getting dropped (even mores since we just had our first Minnesota snowfall and it's all icy). I'm sure the worries about the future aren't far off, though... I've been using the Power of a Praying Parent book with my husband each night. It focuses a lot on letting go of anxiety. Totally helps us. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Praying-Parent-Stormie-Omartian/dp/0736957677
