Free Breast Pump with Indiana pregnancy medicaid????!

SO a family friend notified me that she was able to get a electronic breast pump through her medicaid. So I called, and the lady assured me that my pregnancy medicaid DID cover for one all I needed was a script from doctor and she also gave me a list of places around my area to get one. So I got my script for an electronic pump, go into one of the given locations to get it, and they say sorry pregnancy medicaid package does not cover it! They will not pay for one..... anybody know anything about how this may work? ?

  • No clue. ALTHOUGH, I have a child with medicaid due to his disability. Sometimes we are told certain things are covered by one of his insurances, but when we get to the evaluation or therapy, we are told it isn't covered. Here is what we now do. We request a confirmation from the insurance providers that something is or is not covered. You can have it faxed directly to your Dr. office and pick it up there if you have no other fax machine you can use. Or you can request it in the mail, but we have learned that mail is not the best way. Things tend to be "sent" but never arrive.

  • Great advice! Thank you very much!
  • Go to Edgepark.com you can order it on there and they mail it to your house. I do believe you can not order until 34 weeks?? My friend called Edgepark and they gave her a bunch of freebies. I heard with Medicaid it has to come directly from a medical supplier you will need to fax them the Rx

  • Edgepark is the medical supplier I went through. I have a different insurance, but that's who I used too. What kind of freebies did your get @tinkerdust05‌ ? I did it all online.

  • Well I went into a place called williamsbrother, which is a medical supplier. They were fairly rude and im thinking maybe weren't updated on what medicaid does approve. Hopefully this works though breast pumps are so expensive! Appreciate the help:)
  • It does cover one. You have to go through Edgepark, at least through the Anthem version of the plan. Call your insurance company, either Anthem, MDWise or Managed Health Services and ask them if it is covered. They should then give you the name of their Durable Medical Equipment provider. You can go to their website and see your options then get a prescription from your OB.
  • IsabelC687 My friend was able to actually get the Medela backpack with extra bottles and tubing, icepacks, nursing pads, and I think she said nipple cream? If you order online you only get the machine part of the pump is what she was told so she called. I can't call till I'm closer to my due date :)
