High impact exercise and pelvic floor?

So I just started the 30 Day Shred and all the bouncing makes me feel like I'm going to pee :(. Is this something I should push through and just keep up with my kegels, or could it actually weaken my pelvic floor further? Should I stick to lower impact exercise?
I'll ask my Dr next week but curious what you all think....

  • I don't think it would weaken anything further. When I started back up after dd2, I would make sure to start on an empty bladder and then when you tighten your core, also try to tighten the nether regions. I do this while I am doing my weight circuit and elliptical. It does help but takes time. I did my share of peeing my pants at first :-S
  • When I went for my six-week PP check up, they actually told me that breast-feeding would cause my pelvic floor to be weaker since I'm not producing estrogen. They told me to wear spandex or tight pants anytime I did any hard workout, to kind of "hold" everything in. She said that things would get better once I stopped breast-feeding and was producing estrogen again.

    Huh, interesting! Thanks!

  • If you're still having issues after a few months, there are pelvic physical therapists that you can see that will help you with strengthening your pelvic floor again, reducing pain if you have it, etc. Also recommended to anyone that is having issues with pain during sex!

  • I've read that doing squats is better for your pelvic floor than kegels. I'm not quite 6 weeks yet, but as soon as I am ill be switching to squats.
