Flu While Pregnant

I'm suffering from the flu right now even though I received the flu shot. Now I'm terribly afraid my high temps and consistent wicked coughing are harming the baby. S/he is still moving like a champ but I wouldn't be a mom-to-be if I wasn't worried. I've been to the docs twice and am on a few different meds but am wondering if anyone else suffered with the flu this season.

    Yes, I got it at 10 weeks, and it was HELL. I'm sorry you're dealing with it. Good news is your high temp is not going to affect the baby like a first trimester fever would. Hang in there!

    Pregnancy flu SUCKS! I had it with my #2, I was throwing up for almost 24 hours straight. 
    I stopped and managed to keep fluids down, otherwise they wanted me to come to the hospital for IV fluids.

    I got the flu at 5 weeks and was actually how I found out I am pregnant! It was awful but baby is ok!! Hope you kick it soon!

    I don't usually post; but I was treated for the flu during my 27th week. I had high fevers and was admitted to labor and delivery where I was on IV fluids and continuous fetal monitoring for around 24 hours before being discharged on Tamiflu and one week of bed rest. I felt so frustrated because I tested positive for Influenza A in spite of having gotten the flu shot. The good news is that after being treated appropriately, baby and I both seem to be doing well. I'm hopeful that the same will be true for you!

    Flu shot is a vaccine for best predicted strain of next year's flu when it is developed. No guarantees that you will be immune to what actually develops.... I got the flu last January, I knew I had been exposed at work ( thank you, butthead patient, for removing your mask and then speaking directly into my face!) And I started Tamiflu within 2 days when I developed a fever, and it turned into pneumonia. Last year it didn't seem to matter if you had the shot whether or not you got sick. Luck of the draw.
    However, if they predict accurately the strain that develops, then you are protected. Best odds are get the shot, and stay away from sick people, wash your hands a lot! Good luck this season. :-) October to April, generally recognized as flu season....

    @Trek3  Gastroenteritis (stomach "flu") isn't the flu. Vomiting sucks a lot - I'm still doing it every few days week 30 and did have to go to the hospital for IV fluids - but that's different from seasonal flu that OP might have.
    @Mamasaurus15 It was actually the flu, unfortunately... it went through DH and our younger daughter too, they threw up once or twice with all the other fun symptoms as well. Luckily we didn't all get it at the exact same time. I had the most vomiting by far, and it was so rough. But yeah... sucks regardless.

    @ICarriedAWatermelon‌ Yes, I got Type A flu in June. I blame it on traveling for my honeymoon, through 3 airports and as many planes. It was the one year I accidentally missed the shot. I was so mad because I wiped my armrests and tray with clorox wipes on each plane, and washed/Purel'd my hands religiously.

    After about a week of struggling with a cough that would not go away and adding shortness of breath, I went to the hospital to learn I now have pneumonia! Baby is still fine so that's all I care about. Thanks for all your kind words. I hope to kick this soon!!
