Sexy time sperm collection?

So I will preface this with saying that I know this is probably a very stupid question. But... my first IUI is tomorrow and I am obsessing over things just a little, and the RE office is closed so I can't call them and ask.


MH is going to be "collecting" at home prior to our appointment tomorrow at 7am. He said he wanted to have sex and pull out to get his sample, which I figured would be fine since that is the way we did it for his SAs and #'s came back fine (he has no problem pulling out in time). The instructions from the RE office didn't have anything in terms of rules for collection, either. But now I'm worried that somehow this will contaminate the sample, and/or affect my cervix area by having sex right before the procedure. What do you ladies think? Should we stick to hands-only? If so, no lube right? I feel stupid for not asking more about this part of it at the doctor's office, but I think I was just more focused on other stuff (the ovidrel shot, timing, etc).

Me: 27 DH: 35

TTC #1 Since July 2013

Started RE Testing July 2014

2 HSG tests: Right tube is blocked, possible endo.

TSH elevated, started Synthroid 25 mg daily.

October, 2014: Femara 5 mg + TI ---> 3 follies on blocked tube side ---> BFN

November, 2014: Femara + Ovidrel + IUI#1--2 follies (on the good side), 46 mil. motile sperm=BFN

Nov-Dec 2014: Femara + Ovidrel + IUI #2 (1 follie, 76 mil. motile sperm) + Endometrin=BFN

January, 2014: Femara + Ovidrel + IUI #3 (1 follie, 38 mil. motile sperm)=???

New RE appt. scheduled for 1/14.

    Edited because "staring" and "starting" are two completely different words. 
    LOL! I honestly think that is part of it for him- he wants to feel like if we conceive a child this way, at least there was some intimacy between us involved in the equation. I guess he is going to have to come down from that cloud real quickly-- I feel so stupid for just realizing that the sex could be an issue 12 hours before our procedure. I don't know if I have any pre-seed left at the house, and I know he can't do it dry-- I've heard vegetable oil is okay? I keep googling but am getting conflicting info. I'm at work for another 20 minutes so if I have to I will go to a pharmacy and try to get some pre-seed on my way home...

    I agree with PP. We just did our first SA. You are not supposed to have sex. Also no saliva, lube, or anything. They told us strictly masturbation. If he is wanting it to feel a bit more personal I think you could always help him. My clinic gave me a huge printout with tons of instructions of do's and don'ts it was ridiculous. GL

    Husband: 26 SA: normal
    Me: 23 Low AMH and damaged ovaries due to chemotherapy.
    No AF or O in 3 years. HSG showed a slight T shaped uterus.

    High Risk OB 9/29- got the ok to get pregnant.
    RE Appt:  10/28/ U/S showed follicles, but also small damaged ovaries.
    B/W results CD0: all normal except low AMH at 1.3
    Cycle 1-November (TI)- Femera 2.5mg, 2mg Estradoil, and Trigger=BFN
    Cycle 2-December (TI)- Femera 2.5 mg ,4mg Estradoil, and Trigger= No O
    Cycle 3-January (TI)- Femera 5 mg, 2mg Estra    doil, and Trigger=

    So sorry BandM, only clean hands. :(

    DH doesn't seem to care about the lack of romance/intimacy for the creation of a baby, but it bothers me...he does his thing while I get ready for work, then I drive with his sample and hang out alone in the stirrups. I suppose it's more romantic than delivery by stork. :)

    @iputketchuponketchup Thanks for the heads up on the boobs/sweat thing, I had no idea!! That could explain a couple of our failures...we'll know for next time!

    @iPutKetchuponKetchup LMAO, the not baking a cake comment literally made me laugh out loud.  Thanks, I needed a good laugh today.

    I'm late to comment, but no, you CANNOT do the pull out method.  My RE was adamant about this when I did my IUI.
