I think we've maybe done this before. But who can remember? Are you Team Wrap or Team No Wrap?

Re: Will you wrap Santa gifts?

  • We will wrap, but not necessarily tag. Growing up, we knew which ones were from Santa because they didn't have tags on them-our names were just written on the outside wrapping paper. I plan on using a special wrapping paper for all of the "from Santa" gifts too.

  • We will wrap. In our family, the gifts from Santa were always written directly on the wrap with a sharpie, and the ones from mom+dad had tags.

    That's what my plan is!
  • Santa gifts were always wrapped in iur house, no tags, just in a sack/stocking with your name on it. We're not doing Santa gifts this year, just a toy box which is ready for collection in a couple of weeks :)
  • Same as @bepandnick -- my family never wrapped Santa gifts, so we won't either. Santa always brought us big gifts (this isn't a braggy statement) like dollhouses, sleds, etc. Things I wouldn't want to wrap. Also, now, as a mom, I see the advantage of having some gifts unwrapped, assembled, and ready to go. LO will be able to do some playing right away (in addition to his playing with the wrapping paper and boxes, haha) while the grown ups have time to open gifts.

H's family always wrapped. But since H isn't involved in any of the wrapping, he's not involved in the decision.

  • Growing up some Santa gifts were wrapped (I think).  H's family's always done that the Santa gifts are wrapped in one paper with Santa on it, and the to/from is written right on the paper with Sharpie.  Since I've been with H, I've been Santa's secretary, and started using silver Sharpie.  The problem with this is MIL, who insists on buying Santa gifts - which we do appreciate bc $$ - but won't/can't remember to use different paper than the gifts that she/FIL are giving, and never remembers not to use a tag....

My sister has always done Santa=no wrapping paper and just in a gift sack with her girl's name on it.    I'm leaning towards this - DSD no longer believes though, so she might get to take on the secretary role if we're wrapping...

  • I always wrap all the Santa gifts in special paper...I usually have a few rolls that are the same theme or color scheme...so they're different from the family's gifts.
  • For those who don't wrap Santa gifts, how did you know what was for you?

Your mom is there to tell you. Only Santa gifts for the kids. And my sister and I are three years apart with very different tastes, so even in elementary school, it wasn't rocket science.

  • No. Santa's gifts are wrapped by elves at Santa's workshop in the North Pole. :) Seriously though, I didn't know that there were families that didn't wrap Santa's gifts
  • Santa gifts weren't wrapped when I was little so that's what we do for our kids. It's definitely helpful with bigger gifts and makes the tree look awesome Christmas morning. Last year, DS was able to ride hop on his 4 in 1 trike right after opening everything.

Growing up each of us had a Christmas plaque thing with our mames that was placed near our section of the tree so we could tell whose gift was whose.

  • I voted yes but we leave their one "big" present from Santa u wrapped. This year DS is getting the big Home Depot tool bench and LO is getting the 3 in 1 bike. Those will be unwrapped and put together.
  • Growing up, one Christmas morning I caught my mom still wrapping. Evidently Santa was in a rush and dropped off present and wrapping paper and asking if my mom could help ;)

Since Santa brings 1 big present, it is not wrapped. The stocking items are never wrapped because those are allowed to be opened before the adults have got their act in gear.

I voted yes, but there is no way in hell I'm wrapping the play kitchen this year. Smaller gifts though, yes.

We got DD a kitchen last year. We threw a red sheet over it and put a bow on it.
