I have a bit of a dilemma and I am wondering what other people do. DD goes to a friend's house while I work. She is sort of a nanny in that she does not take on any other kids but she does have two school aged boys and she takes LO with them to
go to the bus stop.
It is not far at all from their house and on very cold or rainy days she would normally drive her boys to the stop and wait for the bus. Would you be okay with your sitter in this situation strapping the infant seat into the car without the base (which is an option for this seat) to drive your LO to the bus stop? Or would you only want her putting your LO in the car if she had a properly installed base in the car?
What about if she had to go get one of her sons from school or one of them had an appointment? Would you be okay with her just putting the seat in as needed or would you want the installed base to be in the car?
ETA: or would you not want your DCP driving your LO at all? (Forgot to put that as an option)
Re: WM's - does your DCP drive your LO anywhere?
I would make sure the seat fit in her car correctly and was at the proper angle - i.e. not needing a rolled up towel/pool noodle/etc to even it out.
Our DCP drives our baby sometimes, either running errands or taking the older kids to school. I don't think twice about it.

There are instructions right on the seat for installing without the base, I read the manual and it is one of the options for installation and does not at all suggest one of the methods is better.
I am ok with her putting the seat in as needed. My DH feels she should have the base installed. That was he reason for the question. I do realize that at some point relatively soon we will need to go to a convertible seat and I will need to purchase one to have at her house.
I want her to have a seat regardless in case there were an emergency as I am about 45+ minutes away.

My mom watched DS for almost 2 years, and I bought a spare base for her car.
If your friend doesn't mind having the base in her car, I would do that just b/c it eliminates a lot of error. But if it is a problem for her then I would probably let her drive short distances with just strapping the car seat in.
