Our first poo incident

Against my better judgement, I decided to put DD down for a nap in an aplix diaper and no pants. After a while I hear her crying and yelling "No no no no no!" So I walk into her room and immediately smell poop. I flipped on the light, and she was standing in her crib with her diaper off. She had poo on her hand and her face, making me think she tried to eat it  :-& but luckily it wasn't too much of a mess otherwise. I think she got confused because we just got a potty seat that goes on our toilet, and we were trying it out today. She seemed a little traumatized, so hopefully that won't happen again!

  • oh boy..... X_X    (im not even close to PT Emmett) but there have been a couple times when he's pooped during a nap and then reach around back to scratch his lower back (i'm assuming bc he has dry skin there) and come out with a finger (or hand) with poo on it... which he doesn't like and he'll start crying. it is so gross.. blech!!!!

  • We're not in any rush. She started understanding what poop and pee is, so I figured we'd give it a shot. She ended up peeing in the toilet after her nap though! She was really proud of herself.

  • Gross! :)

DH has had a few poo incidents with DD1 (like her trying to wipe herself and, um, missing with the TP and just using her hand), but I keep onesies on my girls until they're PTd, so maybe that's why we don't otherwise have many poo problems? That's my theory, anyway, and I'm sticking with it for as long as it works!!

  • Monday confession - I read this thread on Friday and smugly thought to myself "so glad my kid doesn't do anything weird with poop!"  Sure enough, picked DD up from daycare that afternoon to learn that she pooped, reached in there, got it on her hands, shook them so it went everywhere, and had to be bathed and changed in the daycare sink :)  Guess I joined the club!  I joked with DH that we'd have to try Kelly321's approach of onesies until she's potty trained!
