baby moisturizer recs

My little nacho seems to have dry skin.  I've been using Johnson's Baby Lotion but am wondering if there's anything better that would keep her skin moisturized for longer.

Thanks!

Re: baby moisturizer recs

  • We use aveeno fory toddlers. We actually use the aveeno eczema cream in the winter now that the girls are older (we have used it since they were one). I am going to try Shea Moisture fragrance free/ultra sensitive for this baby. I don't like putting stuff with dyes/fragrances on their fresh little skin.

  • Aquaphor healing ointment. I got a sample in the hospital, but it out performs all other lotions I had at home. I plan on buying more when this runs out.
  • Our little one was a little over cooked and had wrinkly skin that peeled and dried out, in hospital they gave us a sample that pharmacists use to mix other lotion medications into. Essentially a hypoallergenic and fregrance free base. Any pharmacist will carry it and it works great. (I haven't bought a lot of the baby lotions because they all contain oats and there are already three generations of women in my family who are allergic so I am not tempting fate)
  • We would use aquaphor or use some Vaseline right after a bath.  It sort of seals in the moisture and helps with dry skin.

  • We started out using aveeno but DD has very dry skin on the backs of her arms and legs. We switched to cerave baby a few months ago and really like it. We will use it on the new baby as well.

PSA there were some $2 off coupons on their website.

  • Thanks all!

Does the Aquafor stain?  I always thought it does because it's greasy?

  • Another vote for Aveeno or Aquaphor. I haven't had any staining issues with the Aquaphor.

  • I only use Aveeno for myself,  so I got some Aveeno baby lotion.

No baby here yet,  so I can't vouch for how good it is.   I just know I LOVE Aveeno lotion for myself.

  • Another one for Aquaphor. I know that's what docs suggest for radiation patients to heal the super dry skin without causing any adverse reactions when the skin is so fragile
    It's a girl! Due November 22, 2014
  • I actually use extra virgin organic coconut oil. We all use it in our house. It is a great moisturizer and doesn't have any nasty chemicals, dyes or perfumes. I love it!

No outside baby yet but we are taking a lot of precautions on what we put on baby's skin because DH has super sensitive skin. Doc recommended Aquaphor and coconut oil, which is exactly what DH uses anyways so it worked out.

I was told that J&J products are full of chemicals these days. Kinda makes me sad because I love the smell of their shampoo.
  • We only use organic coconut oil on DS. He has eczema and it works wonders worth clearing it up! J&J has been known to have many toxic chemicals in it, so we try to stay away and stick as close to nature as possible :)
  • Thanks all!  Did not know that about J&J.  I shall be getting some new stuff this weekend.

  • Another vote for coconut oil! Our LO isn't here yet, but DH and I are trying to stay as chemical free as we possibly can.
I haven't tried the baby line yet, but have really enjoyed all of the Earth Mama Angel Baby products for pregnancy! Most of the baby products are sitting in my Amazon wish list, one step away from 2-day shipping for when we need them!
  •  I have noticed that the johnsons baby wash is REALLY drying for my dd. I just got some Aveeno wash and lotion today!
