Stolen gifts at my baby shower

Yesterday someone stole 4 cards from my baby shower that had gift cards in them! It really sucks cause that could if helped me out with the bigger items we needed! I mostly got clothes for my daughter and we need everything! It really disgusts me that a friend or family member could do such a thing! This person must of been pretty desperate! I hope to find out who did it!

That is awful. I got the same at my shower clothes, and gift cards/cash. Luckily I gathered all the cards together and put them in my purse and had my mother keep an eye on it. Only because I didn't want to lose them. I can't imagine someone stealing from what is meant for the baby. I hope you find who did it atleast so you know never to let them in to your home.

also, you could text/call everyone and explain the situation. If they did steal the cards they will hopefully feel pressured to return the gifts since they know that you noticed they were missing and everyone is on the lookout for them.

What a bummer! Did you check all the trash cans? I ask because my family is really good at throwing away gift cards every Christmas.

Or maybe someone accidentally took them like PP suggested? Either way, I really hope you get them back.

:-( That's terrible. Literally it's stealing from a baby. I'd give people calls/texts asking if anyone grabbed them by mistake. Maybe it was a mistake. Or maybe a guilty conscience will accept the open invite to give it back without needing to make a confession. I generally like to assume the best in people.

2 cards were never opened! 2 of my friends asked when I was finished they didn't see me open them! Which I didn't ! So everyone was going thru the trash and opened gifts looking never going them! Then later my husband and I went thru everything and still couldn't find them and 2 cards I opened were now missing too one had a gift card and 1 had cash in it!

I'm so sorry that happened. I would be so pissed off! That is freaking ridiculous! I don't know what I'd do, search my friends and family on their way out the door? And probably cry!

This is SO low and hard for me to wrap my head around. Ugh. What family member or friend would do this? I still wonder if there's some mistake.. someone picked them up by accident (were there any children there at all, or not?) or they just got misplaced. I don't know. I'm sorry, though, that blows. For both you and the person who spent the money!

That stinks, but I probably wouldn't ask your guest about it. It may come across as accusatory. You never know, they may show up after all.

I really hope they weren't stolen. My sister is a major thief, and I've fallen a victim to her ways on special occasions in the past. To say it sucks is putting it lightly.

Wow - that really sucks! It's very low for someone to do something like that at a baby shower of all places (not like there's ever a good place do swipe someone else's gift cards!!).

I hope, like PP's have said, that it's some sort of mistake/accident & someone didn't do it on purpose. I hope they still turn up somehow!!!

that's terrible. I really hope someone "finds" them. But since it sounds like once you realized cards were missing your guests were there and were helping look it appears that someone either wasn't bothered by having stolen them or someone that worked there took them.

This happened to me at our wedding :-(. Someone broke the lock we had on our card box and stole several cards with cash/checks. I am Italian and cash is a normal gift in cards for my family. I had no idea at the time how many we did not get but when we opened the cards my mom noticed several were missing. I ended up sending a email to guests to cancel checks if written and to let them know they did not have to give another check. I called my venue (at a military base) and they told me it had to be one of my guests. It really upset me not about the money but just knowing someone would do that. I am so sorry it happened to you!

Ugh! I cannot believe someone would do that. I agree, I'm sure you can have the gift card invalidated. They all have unique codes on them. The cash of course, is probably gone. If you had the shower at a restaurant or public venue, maybe it was not a friend or family member, just a skeevy passerby. I hope you can track it down. That is a low person to steal from an unborn baby. Sad day!
