Pregnancy with Auto-immune disorder.

Is anyone else out there with an auto-immune disorder and pregnant?
I am currently 28weeks , after 5 miscarriages at 8-9 weeks.
So needless to say I am soo totally excited, yet absolutely terrified at the same time..
Anyone else in a similar situation??

Re: Pregnancy with Auto-immune disorder.

  • Not sure if MS is technically considered an autoimmune disorder...but I have MS and hasn't affected pregnancy for me at all

  • I have Crohns Disease and depending on who you talk to they consider it autoimmune (Bowel Disease).  I tried for 5 years and could not get pregnant due to the inflammation in my body and medications.  Congrats on being 28 plus weeks.  I was so excited when I reached viability :-).  How are your symptoms with your disease?  Mine have gone into remission and pregnancy has been very good for Crohns.  I have to have a C-Section due to Crohns complications but otherwise I have been pretty good.

  • I have Hashimoto's. It took a while to get pregnant again after our loss. I am 28weeks, too.... Congratulations!

I have celiac disease. I am on the fortunate side of auto-immune diseases in that they know the exact cause and how to treat it (lifelong strict gluten free diet). I was diagnosed before we TTC, but I did have abnormal cycles and one miscarriage before this one, which may or may not be due to the celiac, I'm not sure. I still struggle with nutritional deficiencies, despite religiously following my diet for years. I have a chronic B12 deficiency that causes the most problems if I don't get my shot every 4 weeks. I just try and make sure to take all my supplements, but it hasn't affected me otherwise.

Edit - I mean it hasn't affected my pregnant.

  • Wow. I'm not alone hey!!. My symptoms, well to be honest I don't really feel like I have any atm from my auto immune disorder. I have APS otherwise called Hughes Syndrome in a rather bad case. But for some reason my body is allowing some kind of miracle to happen this time around with this pregnancy. I have a brilliant team of specialists here in Australia. On a lot of medications tho. Plaquenil, progesterone, aspirin and clexane/lovenox. It seems a lot but as long as it works I am a happy camper
  • I'm also down for a c section on drs orders. Under a general anaesthetic tho. I feel abit uneasy about this
  • I also have an autoimmune called
behcet's. Many of the more gruesome symptoms have been in remission. I am 31 weeks along and this baby is also after a loss though we were lucky and got pregnant 3 cycles after the loss. All of my doctors have warned that a substanti flare is very likely just after giving birth so I am not looking forward to that at all!
  • Type 1 diabetes and Hashimotos here. One day shy of 31 weeks. I hope that everything continues to go well for you!

Me too! Mine is pretty well controlled with meds now, but it took us a while to get pregnant both times. I'm almost 30 weeks with baby #2.

  • I have RA and it took us about 2 and a half years to conceive and only after fertility treatments. I am 29 weeks and doing well except a few flares here and there. Congrats and keep it cooking lady! We are down to the wire. :)
