Just wondering how long your standard hospital stay was with a vaginal birth (no complications for mom or baby) vs. a C-section (again no further complications). I still need to ask my Dr., but seeing if there is a variety out there!
I have never had a vaginal birth, but I am told in our area it is 24-48 hours. Depends on your Dr.
Here for Csection they have kept me 5 days. The younger 2 had jaundice though and that may have been why they kept me so long, to keep us together. ALTHOUGH Csection 2-3 I was only kept 3 days and both boys had it too. That was in the next town over.
I've only had vaginal births. With both I was there two nights. However DS was born he first night so I could have stayed 3. I think 2 full nights after delivery is normal.
I stayed 2 nights after my daughter was born, had a normal vaginal birth. We were going to just stay 1 but my daughter had trouble latching so they gave me an extra day. Honestly I hated staying that long. My Dr said if everything is good with this birth I don't have to stay the night at all depending on the timing too. So hoping we won't have to. Just feel like I'll get more rest at home and don't want to be away from toddler too long but we'll see.
My sister had a c section with her 2 kids. The first she stayed 2 nights, the second she only stayed 1. Our Dr is pretty flexible as long as you're recovering well.
I stayed for 2 nights after my vaginal delivery. I probably would have just stayed for 1 night, but the hospital wanted to monitor my baby because I didn't get my Group B Strep antibiotics in time.
I had to stay 24 hours because I only got 1 round of antibiotics for group b strep. With my midwives I can leave after 4 hours if everything is okay. They do a home visit the following day to check in.
We had no desire to stay, our hospital required us to stay 12hrs so we left after that. (Checked in at 9pm, baby at 3am, checked out around 4pm). This time we are at a birthing center and they release between 4-6hrs after birth.
Dd was born just before 10am via c/s on a Sunday. She was in the nicu and I was discharged Thursday morning. They told me I got an extra day there because she was in the nicu
Hospitals have preferred lengths of stay but it also depends on your insurance. Our insurance covers 2 nights for vaginal and 3 for c-section. On our hospital tour, they said that for an uncomplicated vaginal delivery the 48 hour countdown starts at delivery. They also said that if all is good with baby and mom we may request to leave at 24 hours.
I was in the hospital for 3 nights total. I checked in the night before my induction (Thursday) my daughter was born on a Friday, we stayed Friday night and Saturday night, we went home Sunday afternoon. I will stay the full allowed time, I like being there, everything was harder at home. Our hospital was really nice.
I had my son at 12:30 am and I was discharged at 3:00pm the same day. My daughter wouldn't poop so we were stuck there for 2 nights. Both were with problem free vaginal deliveries.
Where I live vaginal is 2 days, cesarean 4 days. You can check yourself out anytime though. I have know many women to leave after 24 hours. I'm delivering in a birth center and will be headed home 4-6 hours after birth and have my post-partum checks at home.
I feel like there wasn't a strict guideline on minimum stay after a c-section at my hospital. When I had an emergency c-section with my daughter (totally different state), I was there for 4 days, and they were going to make me stay another day except I said I was feeling better and wanted to go home. With my son, I had him at 7:30 friday morning, and went home saturday evening. This was a mistake. For me at least. This time I am going to stay for the max allowed time, whatever that may be. I have no idea what they allow for an uncomplicated vaginal birth, probably I'd have gone home within a few hours of birthing. *shrug*
I was actually in for less than 48 hours with DD1 (c-section). She was born at 2:14am on Monday, I was released at noon on Wednesday. I was told that they counted Monday night as the first night. I was expecting they wouldn't count Monday since I technically delivered on Tuesday but I was just happy to be getting out of there.

C-Section without complications - DS was born Tuesday at 7:03p.m. and we went home on Thursday at 4:00p.m. They did give me the option to stay one more night if I wanted to but I felt good enough to go home.
Our hospital is 2 nights for vaginal delivery and 3 nights for c-section. However, the midwives will allow a shorter stay for a vaginal delivery with no complications.
Depending on time baby is born I can go home the same day if I want (obviously once normal birth, no issues) and a midwife will come out daily for a few days then the public health nurse. If I choose to stay I think the usual is 1-2 nights. For CS I think it's 3/4 days.

You might be able to stay less, that would be up to your OB.
