baby sleeping and bfeeding

Should I continue to feed my Lo every 2 to 3 hours even if he is sleep or not fussy.....when does this all day feeding end my Lo is 6 weeks now (can't wait to sleep through the night)

Re: baby sleeping and bfeeding

  • It depends how your LO is gaining weight, really. But by 6 weeks we had no need to wake him at night for feedings. He did that all on his own ;)

Unless there is a medical problem, the general consensus is to enjoy your sleep while it lasts!

  • Enjoy your sleep! Once LO is back to birth weight, you can let them sleep longer. I was super lucky and my LOs all started STTN (at least a good 5-6 hour stretch) around 6 weeks. I would leak even with a bra on, but my boobs adjusted after just a few days.

  • Let him sleep. Our pediatrician said once LO was back to birth weight and gaining well we could let her sleep as long as she wanted at night.
  • My 8.5 wk LO slept a five hour stretch last night for the first time - I let him sleep but my boobs were rock hard when he finally woke up to nurse!
  • My baby started sleeping through the night about a week ago at 6 weeks. I was definitely excited to sleep myself, but I was worried about my milk supply and that LO was getting enough nutrition. My pediatrician said it was fine to let him sleep through the night, being that he has been gaining weight consistently and has been eating more during the day to set off the night sleeping. LO is getting into a healthy routine in which he feeds more before bed and when he wakes up in the morning, and my milk supply isn't hurting, either. Just to make sure, I would check with your pediatrician, being that he/she knows your baby's history.
