  • There was a thread about this last week - check the search function. There were good recommendations in it.

  • Like everyone else said, the lotions don't do anything to prevent them.  This article talks a little about that and what may work after pregnancy to help them fade.

Stretch marks are genetics no amount of lotions or potions will prevent them, only help with itching. If you got stretch marks from your last pregnancy the chances are genetically your prone to them, so they will resurface again.

You can prevent pregnancy stretch marks with abstinence.

  • I say, tiger stripes!  lol.  I'm not saying i want them, but if I get them it's because my body did something incredible that i should fucking marvel at, not cry because I got a couple of marks.

  • That lotion... I made it about 2 weeks with that lotion before even the sight of it made me gag. It smells like chocolate butthole. And I'm really sorry for that description but that's the best one I can come up with.

I hate the smell too. It helps keep me moisturized but i loathe the smell

  • I tried that with DD.  Have a significant set of tiger stripes anyway.  Pretty sure no lotion was going to save me.

  • Good ol' fashioned coconut oil is my go-to. But, I'm only 18 weeks and look like a damn tiger anyways. I look at the stripes as souvenirs for doing something totally awesome with my body. And my husband doesn't mind them, so why should I?

  • I've been using bio oil and love it so far although I have almost no bump so I haven't started getting stretch marks yet. I'm also using palmers. I am not getting my hopes up on this stuff though because my butt and hips and stretch marks from high school so I know I'm prone to them. But anyways bio oil is nice.
  • Really? It says it is.
  • It has retinol in it, which you're supposed to avoid during pregnancy.
  • Sorry this thread is a tad bit old. Just curious where anyone buys there coconut oil and what brand?
  • Thanks so much @somerandomchick‌ ! I googled it at first and saw all the kind for hair. Thanks for the info :)
  • I've been using the palmers religiously and I didn't have any stretch marks when I started and now, surprise surprise, they're all over. I'm only 19+4 but they're all over my boobs, thighs, and butt. :'( the palmers won't prevent it. That lotion and cream is actually meant to fade stretch marks for one, not prevent them. And for two, nothin can prevent them. You can use it for the itching and discomfort(which is extremely MISERABLE), but that's about it. /: if you're gonna get em, you're gonna get em. Just keep your skin moist with lotions and creams to hopefully help make them a little better than they would be otherwise.
