Crib transition?

We are pretty late on putting LO in his crib. My DH has been in training for the past 4 months and we will be here until Feb. then will go to a new city for 6 months before we go home, so most our stuff has been in storage. DS has been in his pack and play in our bedroom and now that he is close to pulling himself up we set up the crib. He's never slept good. We did the sleep easy solution but only for naps and bedtime, we haven't done nighttime yet. The first two naps in his crib he went down really easy and slept for about 45 mins. Then bedtime that night and every time yesterday he cries when I put him in it. And he's has been waking every two hours at night. Could it be the new environment? It's in the same place and I have his lovie in with him.

  • Same thing happened with our LO. She still isn't in her crib. When we tried to transition her she slept ok for a couple hours in it, then woke up crying. We would get her back to sleep and she would wake up every 20 minutes. I think we are going to start with naps then see how she will do at bedtime. Maybe give him a few days to adjust. You could start putting him in the crib more often, maybe just to play so he can get more used to it. Good luck!

  • What really stinks is I'm all for co sleeping but DS isn't. I tried last night after his second wake up and he fell asleep then half hour later woke up and was ready to play. So I had to sit up nurse him to sleep then put him in his crib.

Baby has always been a good sleeper but it's our first and had him in the pack n'play in our room until his 6 month birthday, last Monday. We transitioned him pretty abruptly even tho he does sleep in a crib at daycare and does fine. All of a sudden he's waking up in the middle of the night crying and scared and/or wanting to play but we'll see. I know it's the change but am not too worried...yet! You're not alone!
  • We transfered LO to his crib and his bedroom last night. He woke 2x through the night which is the same as he does in the pack n play in our bedroom! While a normal night for him, I am exhausted from sleeping on the floor in his room (monitor not set up in visible location). Now to move mom back into her bed.... ;)
  • I think this is pretty normal and will get better each night. Your baby got used to sleeping in one bed and this one is bigger, feels different, looks different so it will take some adjusting.
Same thing happened when we made the switch but after a few weeks it got much better. She now wakes 0-2 to nurse but goes right back to sleep in her crib no problem in the motn.
Putting her down at bedtime is not easy still but that's just because she wants to hang out with us.

Keep at it, be gentle but persistant and your baby will learn to love the new bed and feel safe in it :) good luck!
  • Same thing here every night she sleep 2 or 3 hours in her crib she wakes up crying I put her back in the crib or sometimes I am so tired the I "forget " but it gets better every night!
