Trying to Get Pregnant

BFN, but no af yet - Anyone receive a BFP after a BFN?

My husband and I have been TTC for 7 cycles now with no luck. I'm currently on CD32 and af has not shown her face yet. It took about one year and half to get regular after getting off the pill. For the last seven/eight months my cycles have been 29-31 days, so I'm a day late. I took a HPT yesterday and got a BFN. My nipples are very sore, which started 2 days ago. I usually get sore breasts about 1 week before af. I've had sore/sensitive nipples before, but not this bad. I have no other symptoms. On CD 28, I had mild cramps--mostly left pelvic pain. I thought af was coming, but that was 4 days ago. Not sure if my body is playing games with me because I've definitely felt like I was pregnant in the past, but not. This time I"m not sure how I feel. I really want my BFP, but I don't want to get my hopes up. If af doesn't show, when is a good time to test again? I tested fmu, but it was very diluted. Does that matter?

Has anyone received a BFP after a BFN?

  • I use an app, not sure how reliable that is. I supposedly ovulated CD 18, so that would make me 14dpo. I've been meaning to buy ovulation strips, but haven't gotten to it yet.

    Nope.

How are you tracking ovulation? You may have ovulated later than "usual".

Symptoms mean nothing. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Although people have certainly gotten bfp after bfn, it is because they ovulated later than expected. But yes, read the newbie blog, sign up for fertility friend, take the tutorials and start charting, it will help save your sanity and make sure you are timing sex correctly and help you understand your cycles better. Eta: to fix ridiculous run-on sentence but now my formatting is jacked. Thanks bump.

I think if you were temping and charting you may have a better idea of when you O'd, therefore having a better idea of when your AF was supposed to be coming (perhaps you already said in a comment that you were and I missed this LOL). Oddly enough, when I am O'ing or about to, I have cramping on the left side. Doesn't at all feel like AF cramps because my AF cramps are something fierce.. But, hey I'm weird so it fits.. Also... your question about has anyone gotten a BFP after a BFN, that depend on when you have started testing (or how I have seen it), I have seen ladies posting from 08DPO up till they get their BFP (I Mean like posting their BFP's in conjunction with their 08DPO test, not a daily thing, don't make this mistake LOL). So I guess the best advice I could give you is just keep testing till you get your BFP or your AF comes. Unless you are charting and temping, you can't really be sure when you O'd therefore perhaps causing you to think one thing when really something totally different is happening (i.e you just O'd later then when you think you should have).
I am not really educated on this, just trying to give you the knowledge I have gained from the ladies on this forum. Best of luck to you!

  • In the two months I've been temping & charting, I have learned soo much. I definitely suggest it.

  • You've already gotten all the great advice but I just wanted to add. That I'm pretty regular, thirty day cycles ovulating on CD 20 which I determined through charting. However this cycle, I'm on CD28 with no ovulation. This means that my period should be at least 8 days later than usual and because I'm temping and charting, I won't be stressing out about it because I know that I ovulated late! Charting is your friend!

  • Welcome Op! You were given great advice and I'm glad your looking into charting! I agree with the Other ladies that charting does take a lot of anxiety out of the process (instead of creating more). good luck to you!

  • Welcome OP! I have to say, I am pretty surprised by your doctor's advice. I have had friends tell me to "relax" but my doctor was very supportive of me knowing my body by temping.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm a new at posting, but have been lurking for a little while and have also read some crazy posts. I"m going to try to be active on here as long as needed...hopefully not that long.

I actually really like my doctor, besides telling me not to get to wrapped up in TTC and to just relax. I agree with everyone here that tempting will probably be less stressful than not knowing. Drives me crazy every month, especially this one.

Any recommendations on body basal thermometers or will any one at the drug store do? In addition to tempting, are OPK necessary?
