Sleep Question

We are a few days shy of four weeks old and LO is getting harder and harder to get to go to sleep during the day!  I know she needs the sleep when she's yawning, etc. and has been awake for an hour and a half or so, but I think that she's just become more interested in her surroundings and having a harder time nodding off and staying that way.  Anyone else?  My back is killing me from walking her around near our kitchen fan or bathroom fan because she loves the white noise!

Re: Sleep Question

  • Definitely trying to get her asleep before she's overtired. And all of the above helps...I'm missing the days where it was hard to keep her awake!

  • Not happy that everyone else is dealing with it, but glad I'm not alone.

  • Me too--it's the worst!!
  • Do any of your kids do any kind of predictable nap? It seems like mine semi-reliably sleep for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening or afternoon, but I don't know if that's random or what.

  • since friday i've been dealing w/ a baby who barely naps during the day as well.  i can nurse him to sleep but he wakes up 5-10min later if i move him to the bassinet or RnPlay.  i'm wondering if it's due to my increased caffeine intake.  i've started drinking a 2nd cup but usually the 2nd one is half-caff vs reg strength.  i can get him to sleep in the snuggly/baby bjorn or if i keep him on the boppy on my lap when he falls asleep after a feeding (which i'm doing now and typing w/ one hand).

  • My LO will be 4 week tomorrow and we've been dealing with this for the last few days, only at night time :-( He goes to sleep pretty easily during the day, but is up for a minimum of 2 hours each time he wakes at night (including nursing time)...and I have to walk around with him forever (and then he wakes when I try to put him in the bassinet). I really hope he gets his days and nights straightened out soon and quits fighting the naps! Glad to know this is common, but it's still exhausting. Sorry I don't have any advice for you OP, but you're not alone!
  • My daughter hates napping ! She's 13 weeks but 6 weeks adjusted because she's preemie . Night time the only time she'll sleep a stretch is 10-2 then up every hour I'm exhausted
