Re: Glass Bottles...

  • I have Gerber. They work just fine. I prefer them to plastic.

  • My H and I will be using glass, I'm a FTM so I don't have any real experience. I'm just more comfortable with glass than plastic.
  • i have some dr brown's glass from DS.  i'm honestly hoping beanie doesn't need dr brown's because i hated them...not because of the glass, just the extra parts that need cleaning.  i also have gerber ones that were ok, but right now i'm looking into trying a few different brands, just buying one each to try out once BFing is established.  i'm ok with them being pricier because i figure on only bottle-feeding breastmilk once in a while, so we shouldn't need more than a couple in each size.  right now i'm looking at avent, tommee tippee, born free, and green sprouts, because they all have bottles available in glass that have the wider nipple that's supposed to mimic the feel of the breast better.

  • I've used the born free glass bottles and love them. Not too many parts and comes with a grippy sleeve.
  • I have a few Avent glass bottles. FTM so no clue on how they are but they get good reviews online and from a few of my mom friends.

I bought a few of these as well. I did not use glass bottles with my DD, however this time around, I was looking for a bottle that had relatively few pieces to clean. I hate cleaning bottles! Anyways, these bottles have pretty good reviews and are cheap. If they don't work, I am only out a couple of dollars.

  • We used the Dr. Brown's glass bottles for DS. I liked the bottles themselves, but like others mention, the extra parts are a pain to clean. I do have to admit we are a little spoiled though. My daycare first of all let's us use glass, some don't I guess. She also washes them for us after he uses them. So he was sent home every day with two clean bottles, ready for the next day. I just had to wash my pumping bottles every night. I really only used bottles for day care, so didn't spend much time cleaning them myself.

  • Never used the glass ones - but to those who have- are they shatter proof? My dd always threw her bottles when she was done drinking (horrible habit) so I would be concerned she would break them....thoughts?
  • We used glass bottles with DS1 when he used a bottle (DS2 never took a bottle. Ever.), and I prefered them to plastic. We will use glass again for this LO, and she will definitely be given bottles occasionally from early on!
  • FTM here, I registered for the Avent glass bottle because I know I like the plastic version from babysitting a now 5 month old. @britb618‌ I know there are silicon sleeves you can purchase for glass bottles, just need to match them up. Otherwise I imagine they'll break as easily as a small mason jar would.

FTM question - is there any reason to go with glass over plastic or vice versa?
the only reason i like them is because plastic was fine, until it wasn't because of BPA.  now they're all BPA-free and fine, but when are they going to decide something else is in them that isn't good?  sort of the same philosophy i use for sugar substitutes (other than honey and maple syrup, lol).  we'll only need a few, so the extra cost isn't that big of a deal.

DS3 started to take them after I was done nursing. So. ... like 13 months.
The only bottle he took before that was the lansinoh momma bottle. I'll get more of those for the new baby.
Anyway, the glass bottles are great! He's thrown them even and only one has broken. ... And that's only cuz he threw it on the tile.
