Years ago someone told me their friend made a cd for the ride home of baby girl songs, singles like you fill me up buttercup, Elton johns tiny dancer, etc... What songs would you put in a playlist?
I have no recollection of what music played on the car ride home with DS. I do however remember forcing DH to exit the highway so we could go through a Wendy's drive through...I was so freaking hungry! I will likely spend some time considering what type of junk food I can cram down my throat on the ride home while I have two free hands to eat.
Interesting idea. My drive home from the hospital can range from 30 mins-90 mins depending on day and time, so I kind of like the idea of having a play list to put on to calm our nerves, but I will probably just stick with one I already have, if I even remember to turn the music on at all!
Sorry to offend, geez. They also used it as a gift for the family members that came to visit. Good grief, sorry you all are so miserable. Frankly I so rarely see any nice or kind comments I don't think I'm going to read anything on here anymore. I wish you all the best and I hope that your experiences become more enjoyable. And before you all attack me for this post, this is my first pregnancy, I work full time and my husband is deployed and not due to return till after with out any r&r scheduled so don't try to act like I have this all supper club stepford wife easy. Thank you to the one or two that were nice responses:)

Where's the bingo card? Hit too many in 1 paragraph for this to not be a secret troll club.
The ride home was me freaking out that they let me take a tiny human home that wasn't even 48 hours yet and I was somehow supposed to take care of it.
When the Levee Breaks by Zeppelin was what was on when we drove home with my son. We had been playing it on repeat hoping the incredible musical stylings and the title would encourage my damn water to break, since I was 11 days overdue. It didn't work. Badass song though. As far as a playlist...meh. No. Too much other shit to worry about. Kid won't care.
God my kid is going to grow up with a bunch of special snowflakes with how sensitive all these first time moms are... no one was even mean... just amused that anyone would care what was on the radio on the drive home...
If you hit the "Credit" button when you run your debit card, not only will you have the fraud protection of the bank, but also the Credit company who made the card (Visa, etc). The credit card company's fraud protection department can usually solve your problem in a few days, while the bank can take weeks. (Shared by my husband who works for a large bank)

You didn't offend. The STM+ are just offering a practical side to your question: Yes, it sounds cute, but in reality, it might not be something you care about at the time. (You might be nervous, tired, just want to get home, etc.) And as for the bolded literature above, don't assume we will jump down your throat. Truthfully, these sorts of comments become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Just take the honest answers in stride, even if you don't like them, and you'll be fine. And stop with the FTM stuff.
I avoided this post Because op got butthurt at me calling her out in another post. I just knew she was a handle with care SS. Her comment actually reminds me of my call out to her (she was bitching that her husband was being deployed and was leaving her with a driveway under construction to deal with-the nerve of him! ) I called her out for complaining and her defense was just back peddling and a new story that was all kinds of blah blah emotional heart string pulling shit that had nothing to do with her original post.
The sooner we say bye Felicia the better.
Also to OP
Shut up

This. I did this...kind of...for DD. I brought my iPod and I brought a dock so that we could have music playing. The TV was obnoxious, and on the other side of the room and was very small. I wasn't interested in watching it so we had music playing. My L&D nurse said it was a great idea because it cuts out all the other hospital noises.
I just wanted to say that DD did not tolerate her car seat well until she was a few weeks old, and on our way home I couldn't hear the radio above the distressed infant crying next to me or the sound of my heart breaking. Not that OP will read it, but life doesn't always turn out picture perfect.
It'll be a long ride home for us, a little over an hour. But the midwives at the birth center have told me that normally parents are ready 8-10 hours after birth to head home with their little one, which as a FTM makes me super anxious and nervous, I am sure I will be so focused on everything else going on and thoughts running through my head that whatever is on the radio or complete silence will suffice haha
I don't think my baby or I are going to give a shit about what's playing on the ride home. However, I was wondering the other day how long I can continue listening to inappropriate rap music in the car before my baby throws out a super naughty word.

I actually like the idea because I'll have at least an hour 15 min ride home. Plus my husband makes playlists for all kinds of other things...why not?
I'm pretty sure that we turned the music off for the drive home with DS. I sat in the backseat to watch LO and with DH driving, we needed the musical silence so he could ask a million times if baby was okay, and I could tell him a million and one times to watch out for the truck/car/bike in the next lane.

I fail so badly l at being a Pintrest mom!!!
This is exactly how I picture my first ride home to be!!
I'm imagining our 45 minute ride from the hospital will be filled with me asking my husband to drive slower and cursing at any car that gets near us, all while trying not to cry out in pain from a bumpy highway and a sore vag. I don't think I'll give a f&$k what's on the radio.

I was offended by both the stupidity (who really cares what music is playing?? the baby sure doesn't!) and the butthurt of the OP.
Lol point taken. I just meant more the content wasn't offensive to me in and of itself. It was just a question, whether or not people liked it.
We had the Dre Chronic album playing on the way home with my daughter.
Nah nah nah nah nah, it's the motherfucking D O double G.
OP you should probably calm your tits though. Make your little playlist but honestly you probably won't be thinking about it. You'll be trying not to sit directly on your crotch so as not to feel the pain of a thousand knives jamming up your ham wallet, not to mention the constant side-eyeing other drivers and promising to murder them if they cut you off and cause an accident. I don't think you'll be gaily singing along to 'sugar pie honey bun'. Maybe you will. Whatever.
I've got a 4 minute drive home from the hospital, so the time invested in making a playlist wouldn't pay off for me. Also, I know I'm a little weird for this, but even though I played piano and was in band all the way through college, music isn't really a hobby or personal priority for me. I can honestly say I haven't spent more than $75 on music in my entire 35 year life.
I haven't made a "drive baby home" playlist, but I HAVE made a playlist of classic rock songs that I can either sing for baby while he/she's in the womb or after he/she's born or that I can play for baby while he/she's in the womb. The Beatles are on there a LOT (Golden Slumbers, Let It Be, If I Fell)....I also asked my brothers to contribute, and they gave me a song by The Doors, The Kinks, and Otis Redding. I have had a problem with worrying too much this pregnancy (I know, I'm sure I'm the only one) so doing things like this helps keep my mind in a good positive place!
This post kind of makes me laugh... When I brought DD home we turned the radio to a channel we didn't receive so that the static noise got her to stop crying. No cute baby songs here. lol Maybe this time.
