Best place to buy kids tights?

DD2 is REALLY rough on clothes.  She only wants to wear dresses and needs new clothes for Christmas anyhow so I am going to buy her some (and the tunic/legging sets if I can find a bunch that I like for her) but it gets very cold here and I can't let her go out with bare legs.  Hoping to find some I can pay a little more for that will last a little longer.  And FYI, it is usually the stains, not the holes that do tights in at our house.  Any help?

Re: Best place to buy kids tights?

  • I just bought DD a pair of tights from Target (girls section) that look warm and DD says they are warm. I don't know how well they hold up, as this is our first pair from there. I also don't know if their toddler section has the same tights.

  • The Children's Place, Crazy 8, Carter's or Target. We have leggings and/or tights from all places and they have all held up. Also, FYI, Gap is doing its Friends and Family event now through the weekend. It's 40% off your purchase, even at Gap Outlet.
  • I always stock up on Garanimals at Walmart. Tons of colors and patterns and they are betw 3.88-4.88 a pair. Actually ALL of DD's everyday wear this fall/winter is Garanimals. Everything coordinates with everything. Fabulous!
  • I've always loved Hannah Andersson, especially for tights (footed and not)! Right now they have cable-knit! When they are 40% off, they are like $9.00.

My DD is also a leggings/tights with dresses, gal. She's only had on a pair of jeans a handful of times in her life and that was before age 3yrs!

  • I've heard great things re: hanna andersson, but never tried them. I also have always had good luck with Gap. Gymboree are okay; definitely better than the cheap ones I got at Target.

  • For thicker ones, Gymboree. Try Ebay.
  • I was just poking around on Oshkosh and they have cable knit tights.

  • Walmart - Faded Glory tights - DD had to wear jumpers for school her first few years almost daily and they held up great to washings and the playground. We never had issues with a pair of tights, twill uniform pants are a whole different story though...  What I started doing was buying them out on clearance at the end of the season to save even more, but price to quality it wasn't worth over-spending on them.

  • I've gotten some really cute ones at HM.

  • I order DD's tights from Amazon.  I always get the "dance" tights.  They are much thicker & more durable than the run of the mill retail tights.  DD was in dance when she was 3 & I was surprised how much better they were than the regular tights I had been purchasing for her.  You can also find them at a Dance store in you local area.  Some of the brands are Capezio or Danskin.

  • I get tights at Target or Kohls. They both offer the thicker knit tights, as well as other varieties/patterns.
