How much have you gained

I know we are going to and suppose to gain weight while pregnant but i can say i'm trilled about it. I"m already a little over weight and I've gained 12 lbs!! i'm only 21 weeks but i'm feeling that i'm gaining to much to fast just because i still have 19 weeks left...

Have you gained a lot of weight in your pregnancy? also if this isn't your first pregnancy how fast did you lose the baby weight?

Thanks for the help ladies!

  • 23 weeks here (twins) and I've gained 18 lbs which is frowned upon by nutritionist/OB, should have gained more but the girls are weighing as they should so I'm not too worried.

I've gained 13lbs as of now and I'm almost 20 weeks.  Everybody is different though and it is really hard to compare to other women.  I gained 40lbs with my son and most of it was gone a couple months later.  I exercised and ate healthy during my pregnancy and breastfeeding helped me a lot last time.  Your doctor will let you know if their is a problem, just exercise and eat healthy.  That is all you can do.  Your body will gain with it is suppose to.
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...

  • 16 weeks and I've gained 5 pounds. With my first I had gained 10 pounds even before my first appointment and 50 pounds by the end. I lost it all plus 20 extra pounds by 10 months PP by breastfeeding and walking.

Every pregnancy is different and every woman is different. Don't worry too much about the recommended weight gain, just focus on having a healthy pregnancy and making healthy food choices when you can.
  • I'm almost 22 weeks (tomorrow) and have gained about 12 lbs. (Same as you, OP!) It's more than I personally think I should have gained by now, but is right in the "normal" range for how far along I am. The typical range for 21 weeks is 9-14 lbs, so you're good OP. Keep your head up.
  • I know they say the goal is to gain a total of 25-35 lbs.
With DD I gained a lot in the 1st tri. like 12 pounds and i think the "usual" is 2-5. lol I thought I'd be enormous by the end of 3rd tri but things evened out and I gained 35 total. I didn't gain as much in the 3rd tri as expected. So far with this pregnancy I've been gaining a lot too. I'm reasurring myself it'll all even out like last time :)  If not, that's okay. Whatever goes on can come off. As long as baby is growing correctly I'm okay with some extra pounds
  • If you're eating healthy and exercising, no need to feel bad about weight. We all need to gain different amounts to grow healthy babes. Other than if you start putting on several pounds a week, there is no need to worry.

I started at a healthy weight. I've gained 10 lbs and will be 27 weeks on Saturday (ticker is wrong). After losing weight in the first trimester, at 20 weeks I was my starting weight and 2 months later I am 10 lbs higher than that. My midwives said everyone gains differently - some all of a sudden and others slow and steady all throughout. I never weigh myself between appointments, I just try to eat right and exercise and know my body will do what it needs to.

  • I didn't gain anything until 22 weeks and I am now like..27 and gained over 10. as long as you eat sensible your body will gain as it needs in my opinion.
  • I'm 22 weeks on sunday and I've gained 5 so far. Everyone gains differently at different times.
I can't speak for how quickly I lost the baby weight with my first two...because I never did anything to lose it until my youngest was 3. Then I lost it all and more in about 2 months, and then got KU lol
So I'll get back to ya on that after this one
  • I'm not entirely sure how to count. I weighed 141 at my first appt, then got a cold and went down to 136 and just weighed in at 142.8 at 18w4d. So I'm not sure if I've gained 1.8 or 6.8 lbs. In May I was 134 :\

About 35 lbs at 23 weeks. The dr isn't too concerned yet. So I am trying not to be either.

ETA - I gained almost 20 the first trimester. I was very sick in bed - didn't throw up but was sedentary and I could only eat carbs.

  • I'm 18w4d and have lost 11 pounds, not gained any back. Baby is healthy, I'm not sick or was never to the point of getting sick, just nauseous. My doctor isn't concerned as long as I'm eating a balanced diet and not losing anymore. Like PP have said, every pregnancy is different. Go by what your doctor is telling you and eat healthy.
  • 17w today and have gained 6 lbs. I was a little overweight to begin with. My OB says a total of 20 would be ideal for me.
