I just had an old college friend announce she was naming her baby Avery on FB. I got all excited because at an early ultrasound they were told boy. Apparently the tech was wrong. It's a girl.

I feel so bad for those poor little girls with atrocious names whose parents follow these suggestions. I hope they at least have enough sense to give them a normal middle name to fall back on.

Ugh. I can get behind boy name nicknames, like Charlie for Charlotte or Jo for Josephine, but wow. Most of those names would be soooo ugly on a girl! Was Nameberry always that bad, I feel like when I was looking at it for names a few months ago it wasn't that asinine.

I just pick through it to see what I want. Some of it is good though.

Wow. That list is a mess. The theme didn't surprise me but the names they chose did. Gross. Especially annoyed with Ira-- just because a name ends in a certain sound doesn't make it feminine. Boo.
Hahahaha this list cracks me up. I have never been able to jump on the "boy names for girls and girl names for boys" bandwagon. This list just confirms my hatred for crossover names. Bleh!
I've actually known two girls named Barrie (this spelling). One is my age (late 30's) and the other would be in her late 20's now. Also both Jewish, I just thought it was an acceptable Jewish female version of Barry.
Re: Nameberry's featured list today
Just kidding...sort of.
