any suggestions for loosing weight after having baby? I am looking for something convenient of baby's schedule and that won't interfere with my husbands favorite foods.
I lost a bunch to get preg and it was so easy! I just walked. Got myself a fitbit and stayed above 15k steps. Walk baby outside if nice or in a mall wherever. I didn't even diet. Filling my time with walking gave me more energy and less boredom snacking and my diet fell into place with no effort. Lost 16#s in a little over a month. Had my 6wk today so it's D-day for my weight loss to start again. Off to unearth the fitbit.
Check out Lindsay Brin who founded Moms Into Fitness. Her postnatal boot camp will get you in shape! I will be joining Weight Watchers (again) once routine is established. They take into account if you're breastfeeding too.
Two things: clean eating and being active. I don't know what your H's favorite foods are but don't let that affect you. As for activities, you could walk with your baby. Or let your H watch LO so you can do a workout whether its a video, gym, running etc. I just started going back to the gym this week for a half hour when my H is home and its been wonderful.
Honestly I probably walk and dance more now than I ever did before I was pregnant. Both are very soothing to the baby and they have me move around.. I also try to stick to healthy snacks. When we go grocery shopping it's just understood that the first hour after we get home DH is on baby duty so I can chop up bought fruits and veggies so they are finger foods for me to munch at will. It's easy to just lay around, especially with a baby but honestly I find that even on the nights where I get no sleep I feel better after I've moved around a bit.
Try bodyrock.com its a free sight with different work out videos, the girl on there kicks your butt! The workouts are fast and can mostly be done without any equipment.
Is there a way to lose weight without actually having to *do* anything?? Lol I've been using myfitnesspal too to count calories. It's helped a lot. It's helped cut all my snacking out.
Eta: there's even a way to add exercise in like walking with an infant for however many minutes!!
I like barre3.com - you can join for unlimited online workouts and can chose between 10, 20, 40 or 60 mins. I try to knock out a ten minute workout or two while baby is napping or occupied (by try I mean I've done it once lol) as LO is getting older he is more entertained by the swing or his mobile and I'm hoping to fit in more at home workouts. Unfortunately my husband just HAS to have a backup bottle ready every time I go to the gym or yoga so sometimes it isn't worth it to pump. He really needs to learn to keep him otherwise occupied lol
I have a gym membership but I'm finding it extremely hard to find time to go between breastfeeding and DH's work schedule. I might just drop it and save the $20 a month. I've been doing a lot of walking and lugging LO around in the ergo feels like a workout. But as the weather starts getting worse that's going to get harder. I also love fitbits or any device that syncs to your phone to show your activity level for the day! It's also fun when other people you know have one so you can "compete" for daily steps. It also holds you accountable. I frequently find myself going for walks so my friends and relatives won't judge me for only getting 2000 steps lol
Honestly? I'm not worried about losing the weight right away. I housed DS for 9 months and, as much as I'd like to, I'm not going to actively try to lose weight until I'm done BF. I lost about half of what I gained during pregnancy in 2 weeks PP. Since then I have lost a pound here or there, but not much else. I did buns of steel once since LO was born. His day time naps just aren't very long and I usually use those to clean house, prepare meals, or shower. I'm not worrying about losing the rest until I stop BF. Hey, as long as I'm not gaining extra weight, right? But, FWIW, when I AM done BF, I am taking a diet pill that has worked for me in the past. It's called Mega-T, Green Tea, and it should not be used while nursing because of all the caffeine and diuretic ingredients in it. It's def not a natural diet pill, but, like I said, it's worked for me and that is much easier than trying to set aside an hour for myself to do a workout at home. I will be exercising more when this LO gets a little older and a little less dependent on my boobs lol
Since we were talking about exercise, I've been trying to walk with the girls, but whenever I get hot at all (even just warm) I start itching uncontrollably and cannot stand it. This started while I was pregnant? Dose anyone else do that? It's unbearable. I started like freaking out last time and was nearly I'm tears because my skin was crawling and because I'm dramatic!!! Drama!!!!!

Minor PSA here. Before doing any core excercises (and bodyrock involves a lot) check how bad your diastasis recti is. You can Google it and there are lots of videos telling you how to evaluate the level of separation. You have to be very careful about core exercises (especially crunches for example) bc they can make the separation worse.
