Ultrasound tech told me I am having a baby girl at 17 weeks. Showed me the 3 little lines and she seemed pretty confident. Just wondering how accurate gender prediction is at 17 weeks?
You should have asked the tech. I have no fucking clue, that is not in my job description.
Lol it's not in mine either but if you need me to interpret some tax reruns or pay stubs for consumer loans, let me know. I can do that like a boss. But I can't interpret ultrasound accuracy.

It's not accurate at all - I think you should go pay to get at least 2 more done to confirm. Maybe if you post a money shot we'll be able to help you out. My new part time job is as a u/s tech.
Well... Not being and ultrasound tech, how in the world am I supposed to know? Why would we know how accurate it is? You should have asked the tech at the time how sure they were! I am a photographer though, so how about you post a photo of your camera and I'll try and guess what kind it is instead? I'm sure I'd be more helpful in that area.
I don't see what you get out of posting mean replies like that. If you thought it was a stupid question you could have kept your opinion to yourself... Won't be posting on here again, don't worry.

This is the most sensible thing you have said so far.. ~O)

@ciebell you could have easily kept your idiotic question to yourself, too. Yet, here we are.

I work in a nicu and I have taken care of boys and their parents were told girl from the ultrasound. It's not common but it does happen.
I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you didn't read through the rest of the thread.
----- Actually I did skim through most of the posts. I don't get into internet drama. I had a response to the original question so I posted my experience.

That is very thoughtful, and I hope she reads it before she gets banned for calling everyone bitches and saying "fuck all of you". My point is, your really good advice (working in the nicu) is probably wasted in this instance.

----- But maybe not wasted on someone else who has the same question. I didn't think it was a dumb question since I have seen them be wrong. After my anatomy scan with my first I had growth ultrasounds. They did check the sex with those to make sure she was a girl :-)
@seuss2009 a simple Google search (like the one I just conducted with about 3 seconds of my time) would have indicated that the results given at 17 weeks may not be 100% accurate.
If you have no problem serving as people's personal google, that's lovely, but I consider it lazy and stupid.
Edit: premature post

I guess I'm an expert seeing as I work in a nicu, too!
Oh, wait. Still not an ultrasound tech so my experience has zero bearing on her situation.
Nothing in life is a 100% except death. I'd say taxes, too, but even those can be cheated.
------ Never said I was an expert just gave my experience.
I was just making fun of the fact that you think your experience matters more than a) a simple google search b) a simple search through previous topics
Mentioning where you work was meant to make you seem superior with your "knowledge." At least this is how it came off to me.
But your work stories are worth the same as my neighbor's cousin's best friend that had a boy instead of a girl (this isn't a real story...just made it up for dramatic emphasis).
---- Nope you took it wrong. Just sharing my experience which people do all the time in response to peoples questions on here. I wasn't trying to be "superior" nor did I say my experience mattered more than a google search. Since the people I knew that had this experience was from the nicu that is why I mentioned it. If they were people I knew from church I would have said people from my church.
It's not accurate at all. Ultrasound techs don't know what they're talking about. They go to school for nothing. I bet you're having a boy. April is a boy month. Buy lots of blue, 3 lines means boy. Also- go punch the tech in the face. You're welcome.
