First birthday invites

I know it is early, but I want to get a jump start on her party due to the holidays. Our families live out of state, so I'm wondering who you are inviting to your LO's birthday if you don't have a ton of family close by. My parents might come in town for it. We have some friends including a girl who babysits for her. My guess is no one else really cares! Haha, it's a big deal to us but probably not to people that don't know us that well (we just moved here in July). Maybe a couple of friends from daycare?

I don't think it has to be a big bash just wondering what others are thinking of doing.

TIA!

Re: First birthday invites

  • We live far away from family and didn't make any close friends. Most of our friends here don't have kids either.

In other words, we aren't having a party. We'll do something special with the 3 of us.

  • We are inviting the family in the area and our close friends as Friends with kids.

  • Probably just close family- DD's grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, plus her godparents. DH has a big family so that group alone will be 20 people.

  • I don't know for sure yet what we'll do. We live about an hour from H's mom and his step dad's family (step dad has been in the picture since H was 6 so we're very close with the extended family as well). I THINK we'll go to their city for the day and have a birthday party with family. We'll also invite FIL and that side of the family, and my family, but they live quite far away so it's unlikely they'll make it although I know they'll want to.

The other option is to have a birthday party with Norah's little baby friends and my new mom friends (we moved to a new city this summer so they're relatively new friends) but I think I'd rather be with family. We might do both.

Either way we do it, her birthday will be a small, casual event. I'll do some decorations (just some easy DIY stuff) and make a cake, but otherwise not much more! I'll go all out when she's old enough to understand :)
  • Thanks ladies, I'm thinking we'll just do something small here with a smash cake, my parents and a few friends.
