Friday night cat drugs

I put this in spam a few days ago...the Vet ordered me prozac laced treats for my kitty in an attempt to help with his aggression before baby comes....and he won't eat the treats.  Tonight was supposed to be test night...I'm here, I'll be here all day tomorrow in case of an issue.  Why does he make this so hard? They are chicken flavored!!!  They are very smelly, so he should like them.  GRRRRR

  • Cover them in sliced cheese or tuna? Good luck!

  • IsabelC687 he doesn't eat those!! Worst :)  I cut them up smaller and left them in his bowl with a small amount of dry food...hoping he gets hungry and eats them later.  Option 2 is mixing in with wet food that he gets right before I go to bed.  I was hoping he would eat it right away so I could monitor his reaction :(

kcrosem I've done the stuff down the throat before to give him xanex in an attempt for the vet not to have to sedate him to give him shots.  I still have a scar from that on my arm. He was not happy. I ended up finding a vet willing to come to the house to give him shots which makes it easier.
  • The other option is a solution that I put on his ears. I was hoping for treats because I can put stuff on his ears, but I don't think he'd let DH do that.

He has always been crazy. I found him while living in Morocco, so he's more wild then most american cats, and he was way to young, so didn't get socialized well with other kittens. We are trying on the drugs now, because its one thing for us to deal with him, another when baby gets here.
  • And here I was thinking someone was doing some weekend experimenting with new street drugs...

  • Good luck finding a solution. I was look at a liquid suspension. The ear meds don't work well for anxiety meds unfortunately.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

  • Diamondback will compound meds into any form and/or flavor. Have you tried just straight up pill pockets? Cats ❤️ Being pilled. Lol.
  • Definitely pill pockets.

Had no idea there was kitty prozac

  • While there are definitely cats out there that do have chemical imbalances that require correction via medication, there is always more you can look at behaviorally too. Not all vets are comfortable or equipped to deal with full blown behavior issues, so seeking out a vet that has the extra behavior certification is worth it sometimes, or just a behaviorist. In lieu of that, I would also suggest watching a few episodes of "my cat from hell". While this is no substitute for an actual consultation with an expert, you might be able to pick up on some things you could do differently to help him out.
