DS and knee pain

in February 2013 Moms
All day today Nicky has been patting his knees and whining.  He seems to be walking strangely, stiff-legged like an old man.  Sometimes he's even just crawling. Have any of your LO's done this?  Any ideas on what this could be?

    DD hasn't done this, but could it be related to a growth spurt? I know when I was a kid, I'd have horrible, horrible pain in my legs during growth spurts. It was the woooorst.

    Yeah, I'd thought about growing pains.  We'll see if he shoots up in the next little while!

    Thankfully my girls haven't had it, but a friend was just telling me that her girls both did. There was some essential oil she would rub onto their legs and it would help - maybe someone here knows which one or you could look into it online.

    BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
    BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

    Birth my older two get growing pains like this. Sometimes it's enough to wake C from a sound sleep, and keep her up all night. It's awful, and I get both frustrated because nothing I can do makes her feel better, and then annoyed because the whining is just drives my CRAZY.
