Bras!

Hey ladies! My boobs are KILLING me! Anybody have a special bra that is helping with the sore and growing boobs?

Thanks!

I have been having great luck with a Gilligan and O'Malley maternity/nursing bra from Target. It's wireless and very soft. The only issue I have is when the ladies get perky..it doesn't offer much coverage since it doesn't really have cups.

Edit: I'm not super chesty either..normally a small B, so dealing with big boobs and needing bigger bras is a new thing for me!

Same.  I've been going with wireless/sports bra type of bras.  And I have to sleep with a bra on.  Going braless makes them sorer.

  • Just got some new maternity ones from Thyme Maternity and love them! Not sure if this is just a Canadian store? Bought them a cup size and band size up and it feels so much better, I wish I wouldn't have put it off so long as I've been considering going for a while and just didn't get around to it until now.

Side note:This is new territory for my very small pre-pregnancy self... I finally wear a B cup now.

    Anniversary

  • Thanks so much ladies! Yes I am normally a small B cup lol. My boobs still aren't ginormous but am now in a 34 c. I bought a comfy one from VS since I love there bras and for like 2 weeks it helped and now they're back to aching. I might try a wireless bra like some of you said, I just don't want to be like my mom and wear those old lady bras ;) the only way I'm ever comfortable is without a bra on, and I just can't go into public bra less haha.
  • Holy cow @lovemymuttzillas‌ ! Maybe I do need to get refitted although I doubt I'd be in a d but still. I kinda want to congratulate you for like reallly getting some boobs. Hopefully they're not causing you too much uncomfort though

I've gone from a 36D to a 32GG during this pregnancy, despite losing 26 pounds. I don't even want to think about what they're going to get up to when my milk comes in.

ETA: A well-fitted bra can make the world of difference in back pain.
  • Well... I was hoping someone with boobs pre pregnancy would have commented!! lol. I was a 34DD/ 36 D pre pregnancy, and I feel like I'm spilling out! I'm a hardcore VS buyer, but they don't go much bigger than my pre pregnancy size, and idw spend 60+ on a bra that won't fit me long. Has anyone looked at motherhood for bras?
Congrats on the new boobs mommas!! :)

Congrats on the new boobs mommas!! :)

My local Destination Maternity did not have anything over a DD. I found a local bra shop that had much larger. You could try breakoutbras.com or barenecessities.com :)
  • Same here. I'm looking to hear from the ladies that were DDs pre-prego. Ugh. I am so uncomfortable, I know it's TMI but I hate how much bigger they are now and hate it even more when they touch. It's freakin' 30 degrees outside and my boobs are dripping with sweating. I was resized today at VS and found a few that I like, but I can't buy a $55 bra that might not fit a month from now. I would love to get cheap bras from Target, but they are so filmsy and unsupportive I fall out. More big boob problems.
  • I love my bravado nursing bra. It was pricey, but worth it. I wear pretty much every day. No underwire and I feel like it has some room to grow without being loose. It's not as supportive as what I usually wear, but pretty good. I wear a lot of shelf tanks, too, so I've got some added support.
  • I was a 34/36 D/DD pre-preg. and I LOVE Felina bras! You can get them at Nordstroms or the rack but I ended up scoring one at Ross a few weeks ago :) they're the best bras I've ever had and are so pretty. I find I'm always falling out of VS no matter what size!
  • Nordstrom is the best for fittings, i liked anita my last preg. Once you know what kind you like you can find large cup size and small band sizes online at herroom.com, figleaves.com and usalingerie.com. I couldn't do any underwire when nursing or i would get plugged ducts, so I wore the soft, stretchy ones from pea in the pod/motherhood even though they didn't give me too much support. I was a 30F before pregnancy and nursing has deflated me! I'm also getting that soreness back so I expect to puff up again soon. Another great bra to try for all sized women is TOMgirl! They have velcro adjustable back straps so you can grow with the bra, and they have drop down cups for nursing.

  • Hey ladies. I was a 38GG pre pregnancy. At 6 weeks I was already in a 38J. At 12 weeks I went to a 40L and they are still growing. I recently added an extender but I'm guessing that will only buy me a week or two. My best advice--get a real fitting by a bra specialist at Nordstrom or Intamacy. I prefer Nordstrom. I have a girl there that just gets me! Honestly, if in 6 weeks it doesn't fit you--take it back and exchange it. Nordstrom has the best return policy ever. You may pay $60 initially but they will exchange it for forever. It's made a huge difference. I always get the same maker and style--Elomi. I just love that brand for full figure pretty but supportive bras. So I know the difference is from growth and not a manufacturer fluctuation. Seven cup sizes in 18 weeks is getting ridiculous. I'm becoming a circus sideshow really. Hopefully it slows down but I'm not holding my breath!

A supportive bra will help when you are wearing a bra and when you are not. My boobs are still hurty but they aren't that bad anymore. Each time I get a new fitting it is like heaven. Considering the growth up top and in the belly region, the back pain has been tolerable. If I wasn't wearing the right undergarments I would think I would barely be able to move.

  • I do the best without underwire right now. very stretchy, non padded bras for me- I am like a D/DD right now!
  • I went from a 32DD to a 34G. I second suggestions to have a professional fitting, especially if you are on the bigger end. Support becomes all the more important as you get bigger. The woman who fitted me was great and pulled bras that had stretchy fabric and a little bit of room so that if I go up another cup size before the baby is born, the bra will grow with me. Also, I went to a specialty store that makes custom bras. I bought off the rack (same prices as Nordstroms and Dillards) but she said they could convert most bras (bought there or elsewhere) to a nursing bra for $15. I don't know if I'll pursue this option but it's another reason to look for smaller specialty stores. Also, they treated me like a queen. I tell ya, pregnancy is like a magic word around the older ladies that do my bra fittings. They just fawn all over me. :)
  • I've been wearing gap body cami bras for a few months now. I can't stand anything with underwire right now. They're so comfortable.

  • I really like Soma. I was 36 c and at 12 weeks I was already 36 dd. I got fitted there and my boobies are so much happier. I think they're outgrowing the cups again though.
  • First time mom and I've always had trouble with finding the right bra. I'm small in my ribs but have a large cup (30E/F prepregnancy). My sore boobs were my first pregnancy symptom/problem. I would cry from the soreness that starting in week 5 until around 10. I thought what I needed was a wireless bra and ordered a bunch from Nordstrom online. They were great until I outgrew them. Since I grew so much, I really needed a proper fitting. I went to Nordstrom looking to get fitted in a larger wireless. The salesperson was great and was a mom also. She said I actually should stick to proper fitting wired bra. OMG! What a world of difference. The wire lifted and separated my boobs and I was actually MORE comfortable in it than a wireless bra. I ended getting some that gave me a little more room to expand in the band and cup since I'm only 17 weeks. So I basically went from a 30E/F to a 34FF. So ladies, contrary to belief, a proper fitting wired bra was more comfortable than a wireless bra if you're more busty. If you're breasts are supported, they won't be as sore!
  • I stick with my regular Arie bras during the day, but if I don't sleep in a sports bra then I wake up from my boobs hurting so bad! :-( good luck ladies!
  • I caved and bought a maternity/nursing bra from Motherhood Maternity today and holy crap what a difference. So happy to be out of sports bras. I'm sure my hubby will love how the front snaps down too for "easy access" haha
  • I was a DDD before I get pregnant and now my boobs are ENORMOUS!! All I use anymore is a sprts bra.

  • I just feel so much better without a bra unlike a lot of people who posted! I just went to target tonight and got a gilligan omally bra with no wires because the wires in my VS bras were killing me! I feel like it looks like a training bra but I really don't even care haha the crazy thing is we have a whole other half of pregnancy to deal with these boobs.

I'm so sorry for the ladies that are just huge and are dd and bigger. I cannot imagine. I hope everyone's boobs are starting to feel better soon!
  • @ally3242‌ I am the same way! Underwire is just killing me!
  • My favorite place is VS but my breast are getting more sore and uncomfortable. I plan to check out some new sports bra and probably will get fitted again.

  • So I was already a D/DD before pregnancy and I know my boobs are bigger but the only bra that fits is a VS bra that's still only a DD size. Weird because none of my other DD's fit but this one does. But I too feel much better when I lose my bra altogether at the end of the day haha.

  • I just went to target last night and got Giligan and O'Malley (spelling?) two pack nursing bras and a Stella maternity/nursing bra. LOVE the Stella bra. And they have such better neck lines than a sports bra. Can actually wear normal shirts without the bra showing at the straps.
