I think Oprah is full of sh!t.

About everything, but especially about her weight problems. I don't believe for a second that her thyroid caused her to gain weight- and I know a lot about thyroid issues as I have been dealing with nodules and a goiter for 2 years.

I just hate how she preaches to the audience as if she is one of us. She's not! Her billions of dollars mean that she's not us, and I get so disgusted with her when she preaches about issues like money.  It pisses me off that she changes her story to make the excuses more convenient.

And yet I still watch her show. Sigh.

  • I'm not watching her show because I'm at work, but I read something the other day that her trainer said that she stopped working out and used the "health scare" as an excuse.  Even if she had a thyroid problem, she could still work out, no?

  • She claims she was having heart palpitations and had to visit 4 different doctors to get the answer she wanted. Come on! She is probably one of the most connected women on the planet! She says that a viewer sent her an e-mail saying that she needed to get her thyroid checked. She could have seen the best of the best and it took a viewer to figure out her problem. It just doesn't add up.

I think she could have exercised. If she had an EKG, and I have no doubt that she did, or if they did the 24 hour holter moniter, they should have been able to clear her for exercise.

  • I hate when celebrities try to be "regular people".  If I have to listen to someone like Gwynneth Paltrow spin tales of woe about being a "working mom", I may have to run screaming from the room.

I think Oprah has done some parenting shows, which is nice, but then she launches into her opinion because she has dogs.  Please....let's just discuss with the experts without YOU giving your opinion on something you know NOTHING about, kay??

She's been fat/thin/fat/thin/fat/thin since the dawn of time and just NOW they discovered a thyroid issue??  They never thought to check that prior to this??

  • Yeah, not an Oprah fan.?
  • I don't care for Oprah at all for those same reasons.

And for the poster above, you can work out with thyroid problems.  My friend has major thyroid issues and she taught cardio kickboxing for a long time.
