I know we had a discussion a week or so ago about favorite baby items, so I'm curious:
What are some items that you were told you wouldn't need or you did think you'd need, but you ended up buying?
Or vive-versa
What are some items you were desperate to have or were highly recommended to you, that you haven't used?
For us, I never thought I'd use a crib bumper. With all the SIDS talk and such I just decided to not use one. But I recently went and bought a mesh crib bumper because LO is so squirmy and, several times already, has had a leg or arm between the bars! And something I was told we have to have was a RnP. But we've used it maybe twice, and DD could care less about it.
Re: Did things you "need" for baby change?
We did end up getting a RNP which was awesome for us. I was told we did not need swing and bouncy seat both but we do have them and use them equally. Other things we have added have been a noise/sound machine, audio monitor, and a cool mist humidifier.
Another one is the bumbo (although that may change). He loves trying to sit up by himself, has great head control etc but hates the bumbo. I know a lot of babies love their bumbo and swing so we will save them for down the road...
And NBR but I have never appreciated our kurig like I do now, I use to think it was a waste to buy coffee for it (we got it as a gift so that was a plus).
I loved our pnp newborn napper attachment. The first few weeks she lived in it during the day.
I second the mesh crib liner. We returned ours but may need to go back and get one now that I see she may need it.
Our biggest regret was going for the fancy monitor. It worked awful...ww returned it and bought a much cheapee one. Guess what? Can still hear and see her fine...
I had about 10 receiving blankets when DS was born and now have about 30. I use them like crazy!
I didn't think the swing would be as useful as it was. It's been a life saver!!
First BFP: 12/16/13
EDD: 08/23/14
Baby BOY born: 08/29/14
Things I love: Keekaroo peanut changing pad (it's on a chest of drawers that functions as our changing table), DropCam, A&A blankets, the simple wooden Plan mobile w mirror on the crib.
Honestly we kept things pretty minimal in our purchases and have used everything. Love our click and go stroller. We ended up needing lots of newborn clothes since I was induced 3 weeks early.
I don't love baby wearing so the sling and carrier we were gifted aren't the most useful. But they still come in handy sometimes.
