why does the TWW seem like months?

Hello, I am currently in my TWW (1 down 1 to go) My question is I have done many IUI'S in my ttc years and it isn't working.. my Dr says the reason it's so hard for me to get pregnant is because of the position of my cervix so is it worth me to start taking my temps?

Re: why does the TWW seem like months?

  • I'm not sure what temping has to with cervical position, but it is a great way to confirm ovulation.  Is this an IUI cycle?  Do you need to confirm ovulation when you do an IUI?  Maybe someone familiar with the IUI process can be of more help.  Good luck

Yeah that's my problem, I know when I ovulate but because of the position my cervix is in the poor Lil guys die before they get there. I think I am at the end of my road since as of January 1st my Dr will not accept my insurance anymore. Thanks!
  • I don't know anything about IUI, I'm just stopping by to wish you luck.  I hope you get a BFP before Jan.
  • If you aren't going to do iui anymore it certainly wouldn't hurt to start temping now, you'll get a general idea of what goes on so you'll increase your chances if you're are going back to non assisted. ..if that's possible.

Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014.  Never ending cycle starting end of Sept...
    11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues
12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle")  OBGYN had no clue... about anything
01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so  possibly straight to DE and IVF

Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).

  • I don't think it is worth temping if you begin in the TWW. By the time you would notice a sustained rise in the TWW, you would get a positive pregnancy test.

The only reason to start temping would be to be able to compare your luteal phase temps with the follicular phase temps if your period starts.

    Good luck!

  • An IUI would bypass a screwy cervix, as the catheter goes through the cervix and into the uterus. So I'm not sure why your Doc is saying the IUI's aren't working because of your cervix position.

I would start temping on day 1 of your next cycle...but I hope you get your BFP instead, good luck!

  • Due to my cervix position and my screwed up uterus position temping wouldn't make difference for us because I can't conceive naturally. For that reason it really wasn't worth it to continue beyond the mandatory (from our ins) 2 IUIs. I'm on my 2nd IVF cycle, in my 2ww. I'm dying!! I have two days left!
  • Good luck @CML11‌. I am so hoping this is your sticky bean(s).
