What car seat is your baby using?

I'm interested in whether other people have transitioned their baby/babies into convertible car seats. DD is 14 lbs. and it's getting really hard for me to get her in/out of the car and carry her around in the infant seat, but she can't yet sit up in a cart, etc. What are you guys doing?

  • Infant seat, snap into the stroller when I use the stroller (rare) and usually use the tula out and about

  • I voted SS. I just bought a convertible. I'm getting a new car next week and plan on switching over then.

Right now I snap the infant seat into the stroller, but he's ready for just stroller action I think... right? It reclines a bit. I should read about what's the deal with that.

If I'm going somewhere with a carri, I'll wear him :)

Also, fwiw, DH is not into this transition and would rather wait as long as possible. He thinks it's easier to get around by just carrying the carseat around. He's probably right, but I love wearing him and taking him out so he can look around and see everything.

  • Charlie has been in the convertible at least a month now. I wear most places and he does well Iin our umbrella stroller if needed, it reclines a bit but he seems happy upright too. Neither of my kids liked the infant bucket seat past about four months, but both are tall for their ages and it gets narrow at the top.

  • We've got LO on the highest strap setting in his Britax right now, so we're looking into convertible seats. We will probably use any money we get for Christmas to buy him one.

And we will definitely be buying a seat that's good for tall kiddos.

  • We are still in our infant seat, but dr told us to start looking at convertible seats. We're hoping to hold off until the holidays to buy one.
    DS born 6/2/14 #2 due 5/31/16

  • DS is 20 pounds and I'm fairly certain I'm developing nerve damage in my right arm/shoulder and neck from lugging that bucket seat...but I'm broke and can't afford another seat just yet!
  • Thanks for the responses and the link to the other @snuff. I completely missed it the first time.

DS is still in his infant carrier.  I believe he's around 17lbs or so.  However, I leave the seat in the car and either carry him or baby wear him when we're out and about.

  • I'm going to keep her in the infant seat until DS can walk (unless she grows out of it first). Otherwise I don't have a good way to get them both in the car, especially if I'm out at the store or something.

@emotionlotion‌ , convertible seats stay in the car. Most convert from rear facing to front facing, and eventually to booster. I think most peoples' hang up on switching from bucket to convertible is you lose the convenience factor of being able to keep the kiddo in the bucket while not clicked into the base (ie grocery cart, stroller, etc). Additionally if they fall asleep in the convertible you gotta wake them up, vs letting them sleep in the bucket. Just a matter of preference, really, until they reach the max weight of the bucket.
  • Ok I have a question. My LO HATES her bucket infant car seat , I tried everything to make it more comfortable but I'm certain that it's about the position she is in. I want to upgrade to convertible car seat but I spend a lot for the travel system I have now , assuming that it will last her for at least few more months.
Convertible car seat for over 200$ is out of question. But I saw some Evenflo for about 80$ and they have great reviews. How is that possible? Thoughts?
