Ultrasounds?

I was just wondering has anyone ever experienced an ultrasound being off by a total month?

I wouldn't worry too much. They will begin to measure your fundal height soon enough, and that will also help determine if you're on track. And I'm sure you'll have an anatomy scan at some point also. I can't imagine an ultrasound being off by a month. It's much more likely your cycle was a little wacky.

  • Well I'm due April 20th and I thought I got pregnant in June, which would put my due date at the end of March instead of the end of April.
  • Maybe your ovulation was off somehow.

  • So you don't think they could be off that much?
  • Well, I don't think the u/s is really "wrong" ever.  What would be late would be your date of conception.  Unless someone else has better info.

  • Well I have placenta praevia and I'm just worrying about his due date now
  • If the doctor said you're due 4/20 that's your due date.  Why are you worried?

Again, why does the due date worry you?

  • Because the doctor said I might have to deliver early by c section, so I wouldn't bleed out and if she is a month off that could end badly for the baby and I.
  • Are you still just hung up on the original "due date"?   I'm not really understanding the problem I guess.

  • I trust her, I just still worry about us being okay when the time comes.
  • Do you not have another scan between now and delivery time?
  • You might not have to have the c-section a month early.  That's the part I don't understand.

  • I had an emergency one because I started bleeding, but I don't have a scheduled one.
  • Had one?  Is this your second ride in the saddle, so to speak?

@jk3610‌ I think she meant ultrasound, not kid.
    Ah, that makes more sense.

ETA: I would think if her dr diagnosed her with PP, they would have made sure she scheduled some kind of u/s...

  • I'm having a little trouble following but just wanted to chime in that you wouldn't have conceived in June to have an April 20th due date. I conceived on 8/1 for a due date of 4-25. (This is pretty exact from the RE) Many people don't know their exact ovulation date so doctors usually start out by guesstimating from your last period. However, if you have long or irregular cycles you ovulate later which puts conception later.

I would definitely bring it up with your doctor and ask how they are determining your due date. I really don't have enough information to come up with a more educated guess.

  • This is a little confusing, and your question is hard to understand.
I also have placenta previa, my OB is scanning me every 2/3 weeks to see if it's moving and if so how much. I was told it's something they like to keep an eye on. In regards to my due date, if my placenta dose not move. She will decide on when my c section will take place based on later ultrasounds to see how big he is measuring and the condition of my placenta. It didn't sound like she would just guess a c section date based on my due date. Rather the size and health of my baby and placenta.
